Even if you major in a career it doesn't guarantee you'll get a job, the competition is high among recent college graduates.
I am in music education. I have seen a lot of my fellow peers score jobs right after. Whether they can escape payroll cuts is another story.
Agreed, in the SF Bay Area at CSU East Bay #1 major was Nursing, some friends didn't find a job for 3 years after graduating.
Two gave up on being a nurse and became photographers and rent out gear while freelancing because that's their passion.
