Endless Space

Taking the reigns of various empires in the galaxy, your empire seeks to conquer the galaxy via diplomacy or conquest, as well as uncovering the secrets of the long dead precursor civilization; The Endless. The music is calming and ambient as playing this game is rather sedate since it's a turned based strategy game and can be played at your leisure.

Subnautica

Spectacular and unknown ship failure leaves you stranded on an alien ocean planet with nothing but the equipment of your futuristic life pod to survive and examine the worlds bizarre flora and fauna as you explore the depths. The music can be calming and tranquil, mysterious, or eerie and unnerving depending where in the ocean you go.

Portal Stories: MEL

The fan made mod/addon for portal adding it's own challenging, custom test chambers is the full package with it's own voice acting, final boss, and you guessed it! Tracks composed by The Harry Callaghan that also does portal-themed covers. Such as "Defective" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_0BapT0mOQThe The tracks mirror much of the original portal 2s musical theme with a twist that the tracks are dynamic and change such as being in a ruined, or modern test chamber, as well as being inside an excursion funnel.

Vessel

The Vessel Soundtrack is a bit off an oddball since it seems like the various tracks were from the authors previous works cobbled together for their game, and wasn't sure if I should count it in the list... It's Instrumental music with electronic sounds put together. Hard to describe, if you have ever listened to carbon based lifeforms, that's the closest to what this is that I can think of.

Track Favorite: Contact Note https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHage8fhVJs

Sunless Sea

The city of ember meets an olden sea adventure. The soundtrack obviously has a naval theme to it, and can be calming, mysterious, and/or foreboding depending on which dark parts of the pitch-black underzee you adventure.

Track Favorite: Dark Sailing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWRGJhrTZZg

Space Engineers

Minecraft meets Starmade meets BeamNG with block based spaceships with damage physics with fully volumetric/destructible blocks and terrain. The music is mostly ambient music with several dynamic tracks that play in specific situations or planets as you peice together your creations.

Ring Runner: Flight of the Sages

Waking to to find out that your memories have been wiped in a case of surprise brain surgery, you must travel the stars to find out who you are and why your memories were sacrificed for your new reality bending powers. The soundtrack often is fast and upbeat to reflect the fast paced combative nature (Unless you go rouge and play stealth) of this top down shooter.

Track Favorite: Talon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3slon-cKQE
Track Favorite: StarEater https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBksFyXS84E

Solar 2

Simple little space game where you start off as an asteroid and grow all the way to planets and beyond. The soundtrack is the smallest of this lot at 8 tracks, but most of them are calming, ambient music that perfectly suit drifting though the void.

Track Favorite: Constellations https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doijmOIxSnc
Track Favorite: Boss https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2qy88FKyj0

Final Fantasy XII

Lets finish this list off strong! The world of Ivalice in FFXII is a mix of fantasy with monsters and magick, but a technological focus on air ships and architecture making for a wonderful melding of fantastic and steampunk.

Track Favorite: Theme of the Empire https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3vT3hp0U5w
Track Favorite: To the Place of the Gods https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZ2rw-VDwfA
Fuck it, this one holds a special place in my heart. It's getting a third entry: Destiny https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuiV6CNpLWU

'Splosion Tax

Authors Note: "Why didn't you add X?" These are all soundtracks of games I've owned/played and enjoy listening to. Or it (*cough* Ace Combat 5 *cough*) has already been seen in other lists.

Last time I saw something like this it said "probably" and annoyed me (Silly, I know). Good choice of words and games. +1

I might add the soundtrack for Civilization: Beyond Earth - game is so-so, but music is great.
