it's actually possible to find out what the needle printer printed if you record the sound and use a program to calculate it to graphic.

Yeah it is. But also a security risk. Which is why in public places (like banks) such printers have been replaced with thermo printers.

Makes sense! My first thought was the possibilities for espionage in general: plant a bug, know what was printed!
