Yeah, no. Nobody is booking that flight and airlines know it.

arent there already issues with weight of passengers and baggage on airlines? wouldnt this end up with way more weight on a flight?

Prompt: "Moving though an airline cabin filled with white people approximately 30 years old in "standup seats", wearing a hoodie or fleece, and not smiling."

Also it will never look like that, there will be three "standers" on each side, not two. :)

What stops this isn't any kind of business sense or capitalism. Regulations require they be able to evacuate the cabin in a set amount of time(the videos of this are fun! They have plant employees and volunteers do it for real and they're super into it) more people and it's harder to make your time to evacuate the airframe and there's no way around that.

Nope

These "seats" look wider than airplane seats now.
This is probably what AI thinks is a reasonable width for a human, not what airlines think is a reasonable width for a human

No thanks. I'll walk.

They would only do economy like this. To have a bit more room for First Class. And to create a Royal Class.

Doesn't look safe, but for a short flight like 50 mins-1 hour, I wouldn't mind.

All to fund the ever hungry wealth hoarding class.

“You think flying with us sucks? Check out what we COULD do. Now sit down and shut up.” - Airlines

People complained every time there was found a way to reduce seat sizes and cut ticket prices. And then they paid the lower prices and sucked up the hours of discomfort. If they managed to get seating (standing) like this, a lot of people will complain about it even as they buy the tickets for it.

looks like I'll be doing a lot of driving.

I'll drive. And if I can't, I'll take a boat. They can fuck right off with this shit.

Everyone looks so happy

The AI prompt engineer forgot to render the people looking joyous.

Just a little lump to rest my but on please aircraft overload.

Maybe if it leaned backwards once your in and if the price was halved I'd think about it for like 10 seconds but still no.

At least i won't have some sneaky feet creep up between my seats. Other than that, fuck this.

Yes, let's make it even worse, why the hell not.

lots of people said the same thing with donald. now look at us.

Airlines already thing people's legs end halfway down the thigh.

Beyond being obviously AI generated there are several issues with how this is depicted:

1. Bags loose on the floor like that is a major safety hazard, would go flying in turbulence let alone a crash.
2. People can't physically stand still for hours on end, even military guard units are rotated regularly.
3. Many people are too tall to stand up underneath the overhead bins. I (6'5" / 195cm) can't even stand up in the aisle on smaller planes.

Its simple. Remove overhead baggage and require check bags only.

A number of years ago Ryanair (because of course it was Ryanair) proposed "vertical" seats where passengers were mostly standing up but had a small saddle style seat to actually sit on. Even that was just a publicity stunt. A few other budget airlines have also talked about it (for similar reasons).

No to mention that everyone is white and roughly the same age.

I get why corporate culture in general doesn't want people to travel unless it's for business, but why do airlines themselves want that?

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They can pack more fare-payers into the economy cabin, and, the worse economy is the more likely people are to pay to upgrade.

I think they think it’s ultimately a captive market—we’ll have to accept whatever they come up with because we’ll need to fly at some point. I’m not saying it’s right but I think that is the thought process

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wait, why wouldn't corporate culture want people to travel for fun?

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Anything not directly benefiting the corpo is bad for business

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But wouldn't more people flying benefit the airlines which is also a corporation and therefore corporate culture?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

1, travel exposes people to other cultures, which makes for a more thinking populace, which tends to be anti-corporate. 2, people traveling aren't working. 3, tourism puts money in the hands of small businesses at a higher rate than home consumption.

Hmmm interesting, thank you for sharing a view I hadn't considered.

I have serious doubts this could pass any kind of crash testing.

2 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Why would the airline give a shit?

2 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

The same reason any business cares about anything: money.

Compliance and insurance.

Just run without it... you might not be able to pull this off in the US or EU, but I am sure it will work fine in less regulated areas (looking at you, India, and your crazy rail system).

Or they could do it in the US and EU with Spirit or Ryan Air or Frontier and just pay off the FAA to not enforce its regs.
