I teach Creative Writing to Grad students. Too many of them feel like the first draft has to be perfect. It doesn't. I feel like I don't truly understand the story of my books until I finish the first draft.

Also true in design. I find it best to get more or less anything down on paper so I can see what I was really thinking and make the necessary amendments.
