Shooting is a great sport.It teaches you great discipline and self control. Shooting is like bowling, easy to comprehend but hard to master.

I'd probably try it at some point but you know, it's like D&D or LARPing; I don't know anyone who does it and I'm too scared to ask.

Start with something easy and simple, .22 rifles are easy and cheap, though with ammo scares ammo might be hard

That said, I'd rather practice archery. None of that compound bow bullshit, either. Just a normal recurve or longbow.
