I had this for my bull terrier, Dale. He was a very simple boy. Never even let the ball launch. As soon as it made noise he attacked the base. Every god damn time.
I like how, even though he's relatedly put the ball in and it's been fired, there's a give in the tail wag where he feel's it's not going to be fired, then it's fired, and off he goes..
We had one (not this model) and our dog quickly learned to stand right in front of the output and just catch it or get smacked in the face and have it ricochet in a random (not necessarily good for furniture, etc) direction

Blondie knows the deal!

whenever i see these machines, i wonder how long it took the dogs to learn to keep their distance as to not getting shot in the face.

Either immediately, or never. There's never an in between with Labradors.

I wonder if uf there is an easy way to clean out the slobber.

If you had two machines, then both dogs could get a ball.
Solkanarmy
as the first dog gets tired, the second dog will win more

Two amazing dogs playing with this throwing machine.

Meanwhile my retriever likes to drop the ball for me and wait for me to retrieve it.

Is that the new, Go Dog Go! machine? We have 2 of the old ones, about 20 years old. They still work. Dogs love them. +1

The one pictured is a Pet Safe automatic ball thrower. Nice.

My mom had a dog that probably would have killed himself from exhaustion with one of those things. Fetch was a 24x7x365 thing for that dog.
charondaboatman
Oh, no. They still look mostly the same. Go dog Go Fetch machine on amazon. They’re twice as expensive as they used to be. Yikes, I’m old.
yoyo42
*Everything* is twice as expensive as it used to be. Or more.

Tell us you never had a Labrador without saying it. LOL

So smart yet so dumb when it comes to ball
Badwolf09
I wonder how many times that dog has been hit in the face with a tennis ball because he was too close?

Wouldn't be hard to have a sensor in it.
koffiejuffrouw101
My guess is the sensor will get dirty very quickly, seeing dogs in an outdoors situation aren't the most sanitary

My mom has a French Bulldog who let's the machine shoot the ball right into her mouth.

Work smarter, not harder
NZJonny
That's very generous of the bulldog, sharing with your mom
AllTheGoodOnesWereGone
You can see the little two step backup when it occurs to them they might be too close.
Enterwittyandfunnyandexpletivedeletednamehere
There's another vid out there of this exactly, the dog just keeps it's face in the way and takes it right in the kisser each time...
srsfaceI8C
I was gonna say my last dog's goofy ass would have just had his mouth right on the release of the ball even if it started making him bleed.
