I certainly cannot say for everyone, but for myself, the response to the election I have seen has been people very upset. Saying things like "Some generations just can't let go of their hate and bigotry" or "If you voted for Trump, then you voted against me as a human being, to diminish me." I've seen many things along those lines. I'm not saying that I particularly liked either candidate but we should try to understand other people's point of view. I think it's overly simplistic to think all people's voting choice was based on bigotry. There are many reasons why a person may have voted for Trump. We should try to understand where people are coming from instead of taking it down to "the other side is dumb" or "the other side is racist"
Sea slug tax?
fireboltunicorn1212
Everyone has their reasons for why they voted for one or the other, and if all the slander does not apply to you, just ignore it
mommajoemomma
+1 for sea slug tax
redsalmon
Trump's voters are not Trump. He will discover that soon enough.
Exactually
Honestly, this is the 2000 election all over again with social media. Just keep standing up and support what you believe in. We'll be fine.
MoldyCrow
I do t think that. I think they were fooled by empty promises. Congress will never fund the way and no way to make Mexico pay.
ketzall
Can we make this sea slug tax a thing? I am getting sick of the usual dog/cat tax.

Krewnikoshea
I'm not saying they all are, but all the people I know who voted for him are racist and misogynistic and like to used the N word a lot...
LaserDolphin
Ew that's so horrible :(
Krewnikoshea
Yea I haven't hung out with them for like a few months because this election and I knew it would be worse
Sobelimas
Not seeing the problem doesn't make anyone a bigot, it's just the biggest example of privilege I've witnessed.
Dewgonglongdong
Privilege is a joke
Sobelimas
The way it's often presented, yeah. The idea behind it is valid and needs a new name that doesn't rustle a bunch of jimmies.
Dewgonglongdong
As it is now at least it's used to completely invalidate a demographic's opinions and accomplishments
iamnotthrowingawaymyshot
Being intolerant of intolerance is not bigotry. That said, no, Trump supporters are not automatically bigots.
LaserDolphin
Agreed. But if you feel that someone is just hateful instead of trying to understand a point that differs from your own, isnt it bigotry?
iamnotthrowingawaymyshot
Depends. If they're coming from a point of intolerance, despite *why* they are, you're under no obligation to be tolerant of it.
LaserDolphin
Thanks for the good convo everyone! Just so you know I am not condoning intolerance for anyone. I think that's a big problem all around.
iamnotthrowingawaymyshot
Absolutely. Time and time again refusal to simply talk and work together has proven more harmful than any one candidate could ever be.
GlacticGator
bigĀ·ot noun a person who is intolerant toward those holding different opinions. This word is misused as much as the word literally
ViaFerrata
Literally can't even.
DropThatShieldAndPraiseTheSun
Literally actually contains the example of figurative use.
NotWhatYouPlanted
Because language and grammar change based on how people (mis)use them. People constantly fucking it up changed the definition of the word.
DropThatShieldAndPraiseTheSun
Yeah, I'm not arguing that. But it happens, so it's no longer misused, yeah? I ain't sayin' I'm glad it happened.
LaserDolphin
Well, wouldn't someone who believed that all Trump supporters are racist/hateful etc in fact be a person who is intolerant toward those 1/2
LaserDolphin
holding a different political opinion? Deeming that it is all hatefulness is pretty intolerant sounding.
GlacticGator
Yes this is my point. Ppl use this word far to liberally
GlacticGator
Bigots calling other ppl bigots is asinine
GlacticGator
I'm trying to agree with you lol
LaserDolphin
Ha I looked back and thought hm. Maybe they're agreeing?
