Hong Kong Disneyland Venting

I went to Hong Kong Disneyland and this is my story - just my experience and what i Think might not be what you think. Maybe its because i haven't been to an amusement park in a while but I think this place sucked for the following.

Let me start by saying I went with my girlfriend, who in honestly all just wanted the most simple and sweetest of requests; to get a picture with Mickey. But seems like the most obnoxious service the park tries to deny.
Now ill start my story. We came into the park super excited, we took a few pictures of each other by the entrance then went off. A few moments later we heard how some random new characters (Cookie and sugar or something) had just joined the park and that guests could join them to take photos, my girlfriend being as sweet as she is thought that would be great! Upon quickly approaching the line we were abruptly told the line was full - "WTF!!", I look in front of her and see maybe 20 people, it had just started, and they were pictures! They didn't have the courtesy to give all the people who wanted to take a picture a chance to take a bloody picture! This was the moment I started questioning the value of this overpriced tourist trap. She ended up unable to take a picture with them and just taking one of them from the side. I think from there it was a series of disappointments. The lines were too bloody long (put up a distraction! - show a film for people waiting, there was a museum in the iron man experience that kept guests interested but do something similar for all the other rides, SOMETHING!), the Souvenirs were WAY overpriced ($12 for like the smallest key-chain) and food lines just abruptly closed or waited until right before you ordered to tell you what you wanted was out (I stood in a bloody LONG line to be told what I wanted was out).
I won't complain about it raining that day because there was nothing the park could do, but honestly what it did to compensate was Garbage. They put on some Rainy Day express in place of the parade they cancelled, and most of the shows were cancelled do to poor conditions. Why build a theme park outside if you can’t adequately adjust for times it rains? And I understand its business, but they gauge the hell out of you! I would think if it rains on a magical day in Disneyland maybe rain ponchos might be free to compensate for the shutting down of shows and ability to go on rides but NOOOOO they are $8 so F our ruined day at your half-cancelled theme park, right?
My girlfriend never got that picture with Mickey despite asking several staff where we could find him, we followed the rainy day express to try to see him but nothing. Staff were practically ignorant as to whether Mickey should even be there. Apparently, there were scheduled appearances or random moments he was around the park, but I highly doubt it, I think because of the rain they just canceled said appearances and told no one. My whole problem with this is if you build a park around a bloody character, give patrons of said park more than a small chance to get a picture with him! Don't schedule him for random limited show times or appearances. Have a guy in a suit in a building for as long as the park is open for the sole purpose of pictures!! The most basic service the park could offer, and they were too cheap to have a guy in a suit available for the parks duration .... pissed me right the hell off. And my Girlfriend was just Disappointed, it was just infuriating/depressing to think the park could not provide the one thing she wanted as simple/basic as it was. I would never go back and honestly hope if they don’t fix/make some changes that it closes.
PS. Right before we left, I took a chance to ask one last staff at the “City Hall” if we could find Mickey Anywhere, she referred to some BS that he had just made his last appearance somewhere around where we just were, and he was gone now. Then she asked if we had wanted to take a picture with him, I said yes (I wanted to say, “NO S***!”) and then she just replied “Oh” and walked away. Just the most unhelpful and Useless (Bad Words).

I'm 99% certain there was information around somewhere about how and when to get a picture with Mickey.

I cannot speak to Honk Kong, but at Disneyland the character lines do close around 20 people so the character can go refresh.

The handler can tell you when the character will be back. You also must realize that Mickey and Minnie are the top of everyone's list.

I'm sorry you had a bad time. I hope the rides were cool. I would love to go there!
