Tesla Autopilot Crash Caught On Dashcam

Posted by the driver:
So I was driving in the left lane of a two lane highway. The car is AP1 and I've never had any problems until today. Autopilot was on didn't give me a warning. It misread the road and hit the barrier. After the airbags deployed there was a bunch of smoke and my car rolled to a grinding stop. Thankfully no one was hurt and I walked away with only bruises.

funny

There are at least 1000 road conditions the programmers could not forsee. Ok, make that 999.

"Do not use Autosteer on city streets, **in construction zones**, or in areas where bicyclists or pedestrians may be present. " (*s added)

And that, boys and girls, is why we can't have nice things.

Was there no warning sign posted on the road prior to the temporary barricade and altered lanes?

You can still see the old dotted lines, it was following those instead of the new solid line.

Auto pilot uses a lot more than just that to navigate.

Doesn't Tesla specifically state that just because Autopilot is on that you should still be paying attention to the road?

yes, but it was such a short amount of time, and unexpected, Perhaps the driver could have been paying attention, but couldn't react in time

That's correct. But "real men don't read instructions" ...

I'm not saying let's go kill all the stupid people - I'm just saying let's remove all the warning labels and let the problem sort itself out
