Was doing a load of laundry, came in to find this wierd shiney black dirt in the sink where the laundry drains. (double sided sink) it looks like it actually came up from the drain, not the laundry.
It feels like gritty dirt or sand, but it's sparkly and shiny like something synthetic. No smell or odor. don't think it's rust or coffee ground, too uniform.
Any theories? Or any plumbers out there see this before? My guess would be tiny robot spiders linked up to skynet and are laying eggs... but real help would be appreciated

If those spill on the floor, don't step on them, it's like stepping on marbles, super slippery

Were the clothes stained at all? If not, probably came from the drain. Check with city to see if they were cleaning lines in the area.

I'm no gynecologist but it kind of looks like pulverized beer bottle.

It’s the media from the softener which must now be fixed. I would get the washer and that drain checked too. Sorry.
