Invincible Illustration + Process [OC]

Sketch

I've been blown away by Monster Girl and Robot's story in Invincible and wanted to do a piece of them in the alien dimension, I love the colours in that story.

Started of with a sketch getting the characters, emotion and colours.

Lines

Next I digitally 'inked' MG and R. I wanted to push myself and have a much more painterly approach to the background.

Fill

Two colours to keep the characters separate.

Flat Colours

I then add just flat colours for all the stuff. Clothes, skin, hair!

Shading

I knew they would be back lit, so it was a bit tricky to shade them but not have MG & R just all shadows.

Final

I start working globally - adjusting tones and gradients and making it all blend together. I also add some of my water colour textures to give it some texture and an 'alien' feel.
