Grown up human adult man, still enjoys The Black Hole film. This along with Batteries not included and some Mark Tilden gave rise to my love and interest of Robotics

What a film! If only I could find Dark Skies to add to my collection. Time for some X files me thinks.

The Disney ACES special effects / alternative bluescreen process! Instead of the multiple processing steps needed for traditional bluescreen, it used a sodium yellow background and filmed with a prism which separated the model and background matte simultaneously allowing very clean edges around the Cygnus shots. Disney mothballed the system after the Black Hole flopped and the creator was unable to make another prism.

Oooo yeah I remember some video/documentary where someone tried to recreate the effect from scratch since the original crystals were lost or something. I *think* they managed it but it was hard. I'll see if I can find it,

The ray gun props initially had trigger activated LEDs to make it easier for the animation team to animate the laser beams in post production. That was scrapped when they realized the actors were shooting their co-stars and had to reshoot several scenes. YOU HAD ONE JOB MR PIZER.

Full disclosure: no specific actors were named when the reshoots were made, but I can’t imagine Fred Ward or Ernest Borgnine pulling that crap.

Maybe not, but I'd like to imagine it :)
