What cool people the Dutch are.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

says a lot of the expected crime rate of the neighborhood

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"I better lock up my bike. This is a bad neighborhood."

8 years ago | Likes 101 Dislikes 0

Well... Politicians do like to take things that are not theirs...

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I would be so impressed if a US politician of any measurable power was shown at this level of humiity and working together.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I'd be impressed of any politician, measurably powerful or not.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cool thing about this is the fact that is it his official vehicle.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Good for him.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a P.M., he was given a bike with a bulletproof frame.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You probably could get around DC on a bike, why doesn't Donny Deal Breaker do it since he's such an athlete.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dutch biking culture was awesome.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well I'm sure glad that you clarified that the Dutch Prime Minister is locking his Ministerial vehicle. I would have missed that.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They guy is living in never Netherland.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

that place looks ghetto as fuck. look at those guys wearing gang colors in the back. A lock isnt going to stop them

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

BREAKING NEWS: Dutch Prime Minister uses lock since he does not trust his own people!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I love cycling. Just came back from a spectacular mountain bike ride. If I could ride to work I would, but I would hate to ride in a suit.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Achieveable. Ride slower though, pace yourself. Remove, roll tie in pocket. Do not wear a backpack, and arrive 15-30 min before meeting.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is there a gym close enough to work to bike there and shower and change?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's a great idea but right now work is about 35 miles away so would be a 2+ hour ride. May do this with a diff gig, tho.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I used to ride into work every day, though my boss-people wanted me to stop.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Rutte altijd +1

I'm An American, plz explain

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Thank

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The Prime Minister in The Netherlands does not have nor needs protection. He walks around and you can just meet him in the streets

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He isnt lazy like the rest of us.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Adult male rides bike. Someone tweeted about it.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Also adult male is locking his bicycle.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

would like to see the "up armored" bicycles that his security escorts ride.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just the sort of people who would steal your bike.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

fuck the EU... unelected pricks

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 10

Literally has elections but ok ok

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

but this isn't the Eu, but a country, the Netherlands. And the PM's party received a plurality in representational vote. He was elected.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Image result for Netherlands as a part of the EU In 1957, six core states founded the EU's predecessor, the European Economic Community

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

(Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and West Germany). The remaining states have acceded in subsequent enlargements.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

and you are fooling yourself about free open elections as long as the ECB...IMF... and BIS are concerned

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

That's a €1300 bike btw..

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 4

With, or without him on it?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm not terribly surprised. Isn't the Netherlands THE bicycle nation of the world? Or have I gotten that wrong?

8 years ago | Likes 227 Dislikes 1

Amsterdam was 1st in 2014, but since 2015, Denmark has been the one.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes. The rebuilt after WW2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

... Wat?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They built after being bombed to oblivion in WW2. Made lots of new bike paths.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They*

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That'l be Denmark

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Like everyone gets a ride?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Well, China, probably.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Being the most stoned I’ve ever been while maneuvering through crowds was an interesting experience for me

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Just got back. LITERALLY. There’s a lot! But super friendly to tourists that have no idea what side of the road they are supposed to be on

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

As an American living in Japan I fuck it up wherever I go! "Oh yeah, I'm supposed to be on that side!"

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

They were assholes to us. But maybe that's because I'm American.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Inner city cyclists are usually assholes here in the Netherlands..

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was some people at a coffee shop

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's possible. I went to England once and the restaurant people were being a bit curt. At some point we mentioned we were Canadian and 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Suddenly they were super friendly.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I think Belgium is even bicyclier

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 11

Not even close. Danemark would be a better contender.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Not entirely, but in Germany, there is this city that is a cyclist town of Germany, there are more bikes than cars. Münster, awesome place

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

this is how we celebrated the football world cup win '14 (taken @central roundbaout) https://imgur.com/05qI3pq - (greetings from berg fidel)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Exactly what I expected and nothing less :D

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I remember going to Amsterdam and being surprised by a) the sheer number of them and b) how ready they are to run you over

8 years ago | Likes 100 Dislikes 0

As someone from Amsterdam I always try to guarantee the event of b) being one of the memories of Amsterdam for tourists

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

GET OUT OF THE FUCKING WAY!!!!

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Yeah, the cyclists treat pedestrians like dirt.

8 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 1

They treat everyone like dirt. Damn cyclists

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 3

So they're the cars of Amsterdam.

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

There are two guards - why would he need a lock?

8 years ago | Likes 192 Dislikes 3

Bicycle theft is apparently a problem in Denmark, or so I've heard

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is, a lot of it is drunk people taking them to get home.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They may take it to do doughnuts in the parking lot.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Gaurds aren't gaurding the bike?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Trust me, in Holland NOTHING will stop them from stealing your bike

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Otherwise those guards would take his bike for a spin like those two parking attendants in Ferris Bueller.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't care if there is a freaking company of guards, you still lock your bike up.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

10 Downing St is one of the most heavily guarded buildings in Britain. The front door cannot be opened from the outside - it has no handle.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No one can enter the building without passing through a scanner and a set of security gates manned by armed guards.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In the 5 years after Tony Blair became PM, 37 PCs, 4 mobile phones, 2 cameras, a VCR, 4 printers, 2 projectors and a bicycle were stolen.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Exactly, that's two thiefs right there

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

*thieves. Sorry, am spelling Nazi.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Um... Habit! Yes, you want to stay in the habit of locking your bike. :)

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Otherwise you can't take the key out.Someone might lock his bike as a joke. It's something you do without thinking.Like putting on a seatbelt

8 years ago | Likes 94 Dislikes 1

Plus Holland is notorious for bike theft. One of the main reasons that the PM wants to form a new government.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

That was a well thought answer

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Happened to me in school once they put a motor cycle lock on it ...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What does a motorcycle lock look like?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hmm kinda comparable to a brake pad/disk pins on both sides of the weel and then locksitself in place, had to use a grinder get trough it

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

what key? do dutch bikes have built-on locks?

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

They come by default with a frame lock, you can lock and unlock those in 5 seconds. The key can only be removed when the lock is locked

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How do you lock them where you live?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

separate chains or U-locks. simply disabling the wheels would do little to prevent theft. pickup trucks are common.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

http://media.localmile.org/2013/05/DSC_1145.jpg Probably one of these

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i guess that makes anyone carrying a bike super suspicious

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So, when I was in Denmark my friend lost the key to his rental bike and carried it all the way back. No one raised an eyebrow.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

to be a role model - usally head of states try to be such a thing.

8 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

Tell me more, it sounds like a great idea.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Dutch Prime Minister is the head of government, not the head of state. That's why he needs to meet the King, who is the head of state.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Until the US came along and changed the norm

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 2

And then the fire nation attacked

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0
