Question for those that have had a cleaner come to their house:

My thinking is, I ain't doin' shit because that's why I want to pay them to do it and my wife thinks we should clean up a bit first.

I'm not talking about typical clutter, mail, or stuff like that.

Are their levels of cleaning? like, light, regular cleaning and uber cleaning? I figure the more difficult the cleaning the more I'd have to pay. Which is fine.

I've never paid a cleaner, but from my understanding my friends have paid a cleaner for a certain amount of their time per week. So they'll clean for an hour or two, prioritising whatever you ask to tackle first. Maybe they'll get through that and move on to other stuff, may e they'll o ly get halfway through the main priorities. Depending how much there is to do.

Cleaning people will not move your clutter... they will clean your floors, counters, bathrooms, maybe some inside windows... but they aren't going to organize your house for you.

thanks for that! I'm just getting older and some things are hard to do. :/

Haven't had a cleaner as an adult, but from what I gather from various friends and family who do, is that you tidy up, so that they can clean.

this is very helpful. Thank you!

This. If they have easy access it's more likely they'll do a good job (and the contract may even state they won't move anything classified as "heavy" furniture).

I think of it like: I’m paying for their time. The more time they spend doing surface pickup, the less time they have for deeper cleaning like washing the floors, bathrooms, etc (either that or I’d have to pay more). So we always do a first pass the night before of general pickup.

But we don’t bother vacuuming or wiping anything down because that’s what the cleaners are there to do.

You pre-clean so they do a better job of getting the shit you don't want to clean. If you let them clean the big they may miss the small

Pretty much this. Also you don't show off the pig pen you live in.

ooooh, yeah. That makes sense.

Tidy vs clean. Tidy up so that a) they can get at things and places to clean them a) stuff doesn't get broken. Clean, no

That's the prevailing opinion. I will bear it in mind
