Picking up where we left off, getting to work measuring everything so we can get all the aestetic stuff.

Spent pretty much the whole day just looking at online catalogs for all the bits and bobs. That there is the mount for the speedo.

In the end we had a solid 3 page list xD

Did a bit of work stupidly without taking pics, but in the end we only removed seat, tank and exausts.

Here we have the mufflers and the gas tank. I was thinking of painting the tank cream color, but still not sold.

Figuring out what all the tubes/cables are for.

Shagged back suspensions, looked even worse once the back tire was lifted.

Can't really see in this pic but the right fork is leaking oil, could be a blown seal but maybe just maybe it was just filled too much cause the oil looks fresh.

You can see the mount for the central stand which im going to get new since it makes storing the bike in the winter super convenient.

Where the battery mount is, cleaned away a bit of the surface rust as well as did a scratch test on the top of the frame where the seat is, I wanted to see how it would work with different sand paper grades because I want to repaint it.

Hard to see but below the carb was filthy with oil which is strange.

Figure that while it was sitting it got into the airbox via one of the exalation tubes.

Spark plug hoses need to be replaced.

Shagged suspension after removing all weight.

Carb up close.

Removing the speedo and checking the harness.

Label everything! It will save you a shit load of time.

Top of the air box. As I said in a previous post gotta keep it since it is illegal here to just put pods. Feelsbadman.

Removing the carbs to check them especially after seeing that oil residue.

All the rubbers of the airbox and boots are still remarkably good usually they go stiff and brittle at this age. Well saves me a few bucks. hi

Oil EVERYWHERE.

Had to use a crowbar to remove the bastards.

Off they go.

These carbs apparently don't use a membrane at the bottom but rather a valve so they won't require much work. Gotta love japanese craftsmanship.

Removed the top cover and little to no oil just old feul, which is good news.

The seals are going to need replacing, anybody know where the hell I am going to find them?

Cleaning with solvent and an airgun the max jets

And the min jets.

Quite a big difference between the top cover after a bit of tlc and the rest.

This is where we at. Next time going to finish the carbs, change the oil primary and engine oil, do a full clean cycle on the brakes with fresh DOT4 and clean the engine.

Hopefully all the pieces arrive soon so we can start progressing a lot faster in this project.

Ive always been partial to blue myself. I just finished a restoration on a 73 Yamaha dt1 enduro 250 and painted it a deep red burgundy color

Im in EU, well my advice buy a simple working clunker for cheap like an harley they really simple, makes them easy to work on as a beginner
