I am more of a fan of building a trench from the Med to the Qattara Depression... It wouldn't be that spendy, but it would transform the world.

Surely it would be easier and cheaper to expand the Suez? I guess they have political reasons for not preferring that option.

It’s not erasing the Suez Canal. It might be adding an additional route, which would make this Suez less critical. Are you supposed to be open and doing business.
This has been talked about for many, many years.
