"Greatness"

Gulf of Mexico

Denali

Tell them what you think!

I thanked the DOI for the work they do, but apologized that they had to listen to a narcissistic, childish, petty, felon as their boss.

It was the Alaska legislature that asked for the name change to Denali. So much for "Let the states decide"

Don't throw away the signs. The next non-republican administration can change them back.

Optimistic that happens soon enough for the signs not to rust.

Prediction: he will rename the military bases back to the names of the Confederate insurrectionists.

Not a bet I want to take... Because that will absolutely happen . Or at least he'll do something like "Allow the local authorities" to determine what names they like. Which will of course be the confederates.

Is it political? It's apparently geography.

"Restoration of historic names"? For centuries people living there called the mountain Denali, and AK's state legislature petitioned to call it such in 1975 (an Ohioan blocked it). The 1st recorded instance of the Gulf being called the Gulf of Mexico was 1555; I don't think any serious cartographer ever called it the Gulf of America. This is insecure shit. Forgot the link though: https://www.doi.gov/pressreleases/interior-department-advances-restoration-historic-names-honoring-american-greatness
