... You ... might not be wrong.
I unapologetically love this move. I recognize that it's stupid on a lot of levels, and it definitely feels like there should have been someone standing by Snyder going "What?! What even ... why are you ... ?"
I didn't ... recognize? I guess? That it was exploitative and stuff. All I saw was the adventure and the badass quasi-anime action.
I've always wanted to see anime brought to life - not any particular anime, and I was happy he came up with his own world rather than remaking a beloved anime badly. *cough*gits*hack*
The ladies were trying to take the power over their lives away from the (mostly) men who had taken their power and were abusing them.
That's what I saw when I watched that movie, and what I still see. I kind of have to make the mental equivalent of changing the zoom of a telescope in order to see the problems with this movie.
I think the action squad were all gorgeous, their outfits well made and on point - but this movie does not turn me on, not even a little.
I find the movie heartbreaking, and for all it's flaws, I tear up at the end more times than not.
Zach Snyder has made some mis-steps. This movie is not his worst mis-step.
And in a world of things like Genshin Impact and some of the anime that's super popular, I can't bring myself to condem Sucker Punch.
Cheers!

Much better with all the dialogue muted

It's not stupid on any level.

The movie IS trash, but it was fun trash.

Don’t ask Snyder why, the answer is “boobs.”

It really just further cements my opinion that Zach Snyder should direct music videos and perfume commercials: all style, no story or substance.

Sucker Punch was fun, that's all that maters honestly.

The only thing unbelievable was how we're expected to believe she's dancing the entire time she has a fantasy exp in the real world. Who has that kind of stamina?
Sulexar
...have you never seen a professional dancer ever in your life? The fantasy sequences last like, 5 minutes at most. People dance literally for hours.
