I'm planning a trip to New Zealand and Australia and I'm looking for recommendations from Aussie and kiwi imgurians. What are must see things that wouldn't necessarily be in guide books. If you've gone on a trip there, your input would also be most welcome. Thank you for your time and please accept this picture of a cat and a capybara being best buddies as tax.

In NZ: the Luge in Rotarua is awesome, not exactly touristy but the whole of Rotaroua is in a volcano so it's pretty cool, 1/

there's also a maori village somewhere around Rotaroua that is incredible to see 2/

in Aus (i'm in melbourne so that's really all i know) The three zoos are awesome, Melbourne, Werribee and Healsville, if you can be bothered

Healesville is the best as it's a functioning wildlife center as well as a zoo and they do some pretty cool stuff
