2 years ago | Likes 87 Dislikes 1

At this point the fucking site mist be getting info from CIA counter intel

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Again?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm gonna be honest, these leaks have made me more interested in War Thunder than any ad I've seen for it...

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So… this many leaks then it should be shut down, right? For legit national security concerns… right?

"Guys, staaaalp.... you're gonna make the government shut us down..."

Was it something freely available on the internet for a couple bucks again? It was, wasn't it.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What is this? The 14th or 15th time?

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I think 17th.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Fuck anyone who leaks secrets and puts our soldiers at risk.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The last leak was about the Bradley in December of last year. The documents were not classified, they were marked controlled unclassified information. Still amusing though.

NGL, I am a War Thunder (Aircraft) junkie. Playing for 11 years now.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

You think spy agencies just sit in the war thunder forum waiting for these leaks to happen.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A clip in one of the comments says this is a tank model currently being supplied to Ukraine; you can count on there being someone waiting for it. After all the prior incidents, I'm pretty sure that Russia and China, at least, have a few people assigned to keep tabs on that place.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wtf, again?

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Isnt, this not, par for the course with these people?

To make video games more realistic?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Honestly, I feel like it has been too long.
I love seeing classified government documents leaked. Any. Anywhere.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is War Thunder a conspiracy created to encourage military leaks?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Well, the developers are Russian...

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yea but.. people are wrong about tanks!

2 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 1

To quote XKCD: "Someone is WRONG on the Internet."

2 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

oh for fuck's sake, AGAIN?!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thing is, wasn't it confirmed many times that the info that get leaked isn't exactly confidential or highly secret or at least, nothing any major countries doesn't know about already anyway. It's still classified document but it's not high tier secret.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

There have been times where it's been genuinely classified material, but most of the time it's typically restricted documents.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Usually they're 'export controlled' documents: https://www.dodcui.mil/Export-Control/Export-Controlled/

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Apparently Are you a War Thunder player is now one of the questions that are asked of you while you are doing your polygraph exam to get your clearance

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 2

No, it is not. But they do ask you if you use WASD or the arrow keys.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Similar how it's forbidden to say: "it worked in ksp" at NASA

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure that was actually a myth that started as a joke after one of the previous leaks.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Since when do they give you a polygraph?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lolololol. No it’s not. Examiners aren’t going to burn time asking that specific of a question during the run. Standard counterintelligence questions asked at almost every PG will catch this. Then you’ll be grilled heavily during post exam questioning, specifically about why you’re reacting to certain CI questions. Eventually it’s divulged or you’re removed from further processing.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Polygraphs are bullshit. It is hilarious that the military relies on them.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

They ask weird questions when going for certain military roles - even asking what porn sites you visit...

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Does instagram count as porn site? Or youTube? Just asking...

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

God damn you'd think it'd get old, but this is so funny every time it happens

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

More, you think they'd just close the forums down at this point. This is just so much extra stress for them as a game studio to deal with.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The stuff getting leaked is not really highly saute information. And is likely widely known already by foreign governments... things like a use manual for a tank. The reason they don't shutdown the entire forum is because it's not really a problem, they probably get more from publicity. Just shutdown the thread when things like this happen

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Actually, there's been some very spicy stuff put out there. Like the exact design aspects of a highly classified weapons system that hadn't been leaked yet. Some deign documents have also been leaked by people who had access to databases they shouldn't have. It's been a mix of controlled handling and actually classified documents.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is one of those rare jokes that get funnier with repetition

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Why does this happen as often as it does?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A lot of them are just people reposting stuff that leaked long ago. But pretending it's a fresh leak makes for better headlines, just as claiming stuff's classified when it's really just not for public release.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

People like to prove they're right. Also a lot of the stuff is only somewhat restricted. Like it's *technically* allowed, but only just, and war thunder remove it to be on the safe side. As far as I know no legal punishment has happened to anyone posting this stuff.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Also our military is fucking awful in so many ways. They treat the new recruits like shit. They've got no fucking way of controlling these leaks. The average age of people given this sort of information is like 19 or 20. Because we love it when children are put in these positions apparently.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I think it's related to War Thunder's damage model, oddly enough. War Thunder tries to model it's damage on vehicles as accurately to the real thing, where weak spots actually are. Then people who are acquainted with the vehicles argue and say, no, that's not right, I shouldn't have died in that battle because the armor is strong here and I can prove it!

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So they're blaming a game for...being a game?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most of the War Thunder leaks have been things that are publicly visible, but they're still technically under export restrictions so they're not supposed to be shared online or outside the country.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why four digits though? You'll never need more than 2 digits.

Maybe it is in binary, and the highest it can get is 15?

At this rate, 1 will suffice

2 years ago | Likes 167 Dislikes 1

It's up to, like, 17 though?

2 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

I think it's actually into the 20s.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

M2A2 Bradley - not classified, but it is restricted (short youtube short on it)

2 years ago | Likes 324 Dislikes 4

Most of the "leaks" are not of classified things but people keep saying they are

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

They're all technically restricted not classified. But using the word classified is more attention-grabbing, probably

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

The "we trained 50,000 20 year olds on it, everyone knows, but it's technically ITAR so..."

2 years ago | Likes 73 Dislikes 0

“…and countless airplanes…” I mean there have been 14 leaks… surely he can count that high?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

is this a new one or the same bradley leaks? i know imgur has a habit of reposting this image months after it has happened

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

From a Google search, this is the same one from December. But it's re-doing the rounds on social media.

lol. Wrong. Sounds like someone doesn’t know what they’re talking about or failed their annual training. TS, S, and C are classifications. FOUO, NOFORN, ORCON etc are dissemination controls. Restricted is none of these things.

Former IC here. You are incorrect.
RESTRICTED and NOFORN are not classifications. There are only three classifications: CONFIDENTIAL, SECRET, and TOP SECRET.
RESTRICTED is a control marking, which can be applied to unclassified information.
NOFORN (Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals) is a dissemination marking.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

My man posted his incorrectness with such confidence with enough words he’d heard before to sound legit.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I fucked up! But I'm not deleting this! I'm gonna own it!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But then I did delete it, because the notifications suck

So restricted is used as a subset, in the nuke world.

Nice

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Already admitted I made a mistake, and its been about 6 years since my last refresher. I derfer to your more informed clarification.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What does IC mean

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Intelligence Community

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, it isn’t. Restricted is not a US classification (like confidential, secret, or top secret) nor is it a US caveat (like noforn).

2 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 5

Correct, these documents were marked CUI/REL to US, UK. CUI = 'Controlled unclassified information' - these documents were not classified by legal definition, but were still controlled and this was still a leak.

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 2

Not arguing the leak my dude, only clearing up misinformation.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yep, was agreeing and reinforcing your point with a pertinent detail.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

But the meme says days since classified documents were leaked. And the were marked as controlled, yet unclassified.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

It also really depends on who leaked them... Take the uk as an example, if it was a gov staff member who typically agrees to the official secrets act, there are more broad reaching areas of that law that cover them, including parts that could "bring harm" to the government. those do not need classified documents. See: https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1989/6/section/1 as an example, they have similar sections for defence, international relations etc.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So by that point of order, the sign should not be at zero....world's problems have been solved! Gooooo us!
