The Edward scissorhands colors made me think of the Dixie cup design known as Jazz… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jazz_(design)

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is absolutely incorrect. They are made like crepes. I saw it on Amelie.

The song in the second vid is the opening song of Edward Scissorhands and happens to be the first track on Music for a Darkened Theater, a collection of Danny Elfman soundtracks. Good Album.

I was expecting to hear some Huggbees narration.

So interesting to see. My mom used to work in a record press factory long before I was born.

That seems like a lot of work for one record.

Probably tastes the same though

Holy shit I never noticed the parallels between Godfather and the Orzhov until I saw that black and white vinyl record!

Could you play the metallic master? Would it sound different?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All the sound would be upside-down.

Seriously, not really. A laser-based tool could do it, but since the grooves for the needle would be raised ridges, a physical needle wouldn’t be able to follow along.

Those kind of headshell / needle do exist.

I’d like to see the equipment that was used in the 50s and 60s.

Tat is the newest equipment i have ever seen.

I made a voice recording in about 1955. The equipment looked pretty much like a standard portable phonograph, but instead of a floating arm with a needle, it had a rigid bar all the way over the record. On the bottom side of the bar was a cutting tool attached to a microphone. It literally cut sound waves into the vinyl record as it spun,

A Ukrainian friend collects old Soviet bootlegs. they would press them on old X-RAYs. That was how he experienced western music as a kid.

Some interesting info about the "bone records". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ribs_(recordings)

Pressed or Cut?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He said pressed, but it could be they are cut and he does not know, or they are pressed. the Xrays are still pretty clear.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0
