I keep seeing these posts about women striking from the jobs they do but don't get paid for. Most of them are referring to general housework and chores.

I understand that men are just as capable of taking care of their household as women. However, if I see a mess on the floor that I think my child could trip over or a dirty toilet that will smell if it is not cleaned, I feel inclined to take care of these things. Not because I have to, but because I want to. I want a clean, healthy environment just as much as my family wants one. I don't believe that caring for my home environment is a "job."

TL;DR It grinds my gears that women are striking from household upkeep and stating they won't do a job that doesn't pay. Taking care of your family is not a job.

For clarification: I am a woman and I still have these feelings. This is not a misogynistic post.

Job is defined as: a piece of work. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/job I think you mean to use the term 'profession' or 'career'

If I could edit my verbiage, I would. Thank you for pointing that out.

Agreed. I just don't emphasize gender when looking after my household.

If you are a stay-at-home spouse, you should take care of the domestic responsibilities, regardless of gender. That is pulling you share.

I do agree with this. My husband stays at home and, while he does most of the chores, I do not neglect things out of principle.

Yup, and the attitude of "well, I'm here and it needs to get done" is very positive as well. You are a good person, and have a lucky husband

Why, thanks! That's a very nice compliment :). We both work very hard, and him being home with a 2 year old is not for the faint of heart!
