This is why OLD Google maps is good.
The little man at the bottom rotates, with an arrow, showing you EXACTLY what you're looking at.
The 50/50 split view is like a first person video game, with an overworld directional map letting you point at what you need to see.
You can easily find what you're after on the old version, yet time and time and time and time again we need to set "Switch to old google maps, REMEMBER THIS SETTING" "nope, fuck you" is the response.
New one is designed like shit, for the sake of redesigning things, keeping a UI team in a job, fiddling for the sake of looking busy.
Leave the fucking thing alone.

I agree that the new google maps is shit. I'm mostly pissed that they didn't ask long time users for any input on how to improve it

Why do that, when they have highly paid UI "experts" sitting around doing nothing, quick, re-iterate something fast.
