Cutesy main character aside Unbreakable Machine Doll has some very dark underlying themes and is a lesser-known "high school brawl"-esque anime with a more mature take on the subject (and nudity, be careful it has nudity)

Kill la Kill

A rebellious teenage girl vows to fight literally an entire school's worth of super-soldiers to find out who killed her dad. (You will either love this anime or hate it)

Sidonia no Kishi | Knights of Sidonia

Dystopian Mecha versus Alien combat in space where the mortality rate is high and the main character is both a dolt and a special snowflake.

Akame ga Kill!

A bunch of murderers team up to destroy a corrupt empire from the inside out.

Terra Formars

Super-powered humans fighting an army of Usain-Bolt infused Cockroaches on Mars.

Boku dake ga Inai Machi | ERASED

A man travels through time to try and prevent the murders of his classmates and other victims of the elusive serial killer.

Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu | Re:ZERO -Staring Life in Another World-

An "Oh no, I've been dropped into a fantasy world!" style anime where the main character quickly realises he's not a special snowflake and that people can and will try to kill him.
