The project continues as I get time and inspiration to work on it, the next big thing I wanted to do was to get the engine set height-wise in the vehicle and mounted in place.

Welp, let's get this dirty business started, adapter plate and transmission are installed, got the 914 in the air so...c'mon baby, shake that ass-end in the air like you just don't care.

Aww yeah that's nice, you ready for it? 'cause here it comes. I'll go real slow.

That's right, slowly does it, up and in...

I know there's a tranny joke here somewhere, not sure where the hell it is, but it's in here somewhere.

ANYWAY! Transmission mounted, time to raise the front end up and get that ground clearance height set and we can...wait, why is the entire car lifting up...

...AW

HELL

NAW...

Ok Mr. Turbo, I'll figure you out later, for now, just chill out. The engine came with the VF24 turbocharger. I want to say the more typical Subaru turbo is the TD04.

Quick solution, unbolt the turbo, oil and coolant lines and prepare the up pipe for modification. Just removed it from the manifold for the time being.

Ok, got everything in place, time to make a cradle mount, some quick cuts and a bit of milling and I got it mocked up...

Some 1/4" steel plates welded onto the rear trailing arm pivot provide some decent downward support, I'll be boxing them in later to make sure side to side motions are handled as well.

Drills, holesaws, and end mills made for some quick and dirty slotting to make for easy removal from the stock motor mounts.

And there's just enough room to squeeze an exhaust pipe through there!

Ok, let's see how she looks back on her wheeeeeeeellllllllllsomygod.... She's got a bit of a badonkadonk now it seems...The rear tires are a bit tucked into those fenders.

Versus the front wheels...which are not tucked into the fenders at all. Guess it's time for some stronger rear springs!

Well, the height seems good, the engine deck lid clears the top of the engine at least.

All in all it looks good on the ground.

And even with the weight on the springs, the ground clearance is just about perfect! The oil pan dangles just a tiny bit under the bottom of the car.

Unfortunately the next project that needs serious work is tackling the ECU and wiring harness... I've done wiring harnesses before, but, I'm not entirely sure I really want to take that on myself in this car... I may have to look to see if I can find someone else willing to strip it down for me.

Thanks! I just kinda dove into the project without much direction, hardest choice was buying the engine.

They're somewhat slow, but I do what I can. I work on it as I have the time and money, thankfully it's about all I spend my money on.
