Of course, Asteroids happened early on and was addictive as hell but that was arcade-only so playing it took a pocketful of quarters.
Then one rainy day years later I played DOOM on a neighbor's machine, had a hard time putting it down but then I was just visiting.
Picked up an old 8088 with a 5 &1/2" floppy drive for $30 from another neighbor who had a livingroom stacked to the ceiling with hundreds of CPUs and monitors he'd salvaged from some local software firm doing a corporate-wide upgrade.
Pong was the first game on the list.
Moraff's World was next. Good times.
Thanks and a tip-o'-the-hat to @Gibblestick from whom I shamelessly stole the graphic. I had forgotten all about that 8088 machine and the simple DOS-command games I played on it until their post jolted my memory. I owe you one, friend.
