If Fox wants to know how Americans can work together, we can start with facts:
74 million people voted for Trump.
In the 2020 census, 168 million people identified as registered to vote (and 37 million did not answer). 74 million is no more than 44% of registered voters, not half (maybe only 36%).
In 2020, the US had 231 million adult citizens (eligible to vote). 74 million is 32% of adult citizens eligible to vote, not half.
In 2020, the US had 331 million residents. 74 million is 22% of US residents, not half.

The most recent poll says that 28% of voters are Republicans, 29% are Democrats, and 41% are independents. 28% is not half. Independents have held the largest share since 2012:

I've always said the same. More like a ⅓ of the voting population.

Just curious. I registered as "refuse to affiliate". Do they count me as "Independent"? I recall Independent as a separate option.
kakivara
It varies. In some places Independent is an actual party.
chittychittybangbanglovesustoo
You don't have Independents in the U.S. You're either a Democrat or a Republican. You have a stupid two party system.
lackadaisycull
You have independents that are pissed they have to keep voting for the lesser of two evils.
chittychittybangbanglovesustoo
I guess as long as they vote Democrat? We have a multi-party system here but it's really a three party system. Voters get overwhelmed.
kakivara
We have people who will answer "independent" when someone asks which of the two parties they support, though.
chittychittybangbanglovesustoo
I guess I would rather that instead of saying Republican. It's mind boggling to the rest of the world that people vote Republican.
kakivara
The difference between the % of people who lean Republican vs. identify as Republican sounds like the anti-Trump conservatives.
kakivara
It's mind-boggling to non-Republicans that people vote Republican.

Well yes. It's why I'm not travelling to North Carolina for the past few years. Beautiful state but I'm not spending money there.

NC has a resistance, at least.
