Wide view of compost pile in the yard.
This is facing North-East. I have decided on staying with an open three sided look.
Top Layer of Pile
This is the current top layer of the compost pile, as a collection of areas I have been raking up before spring is really here.
Middle layer of pile
I used all kinds of materials that will break down, from shredding of paper from my office to debris from the yard that has floated around all winter.
Back side of pallet.
I have been working on an idea to have a large compost pile, in a residential area of Denver. I wanted to re-use materials, pallets, cedar planks, and posts. This is an on-going process to build soil at my edible garden. All materials were reused from other projects...as pictured so far.
Front side of pallet.
I wanted to re-use materials, pallets, cedar planks, and posts. I have been cited multiple times at my residence for "storage of building materials not in an enclosed structure." Who know storage of compost was so sensitive. That is the struggle for practical practices. All materials were reused from other projects...as pictured so far.

I'm in Aurora and interested in putting a compost in my back yard this spring. Keep us posted on your progress.

I've done compost piles with pallets...you can expect maybe 2 seasons out of them...I have a compost-tumbler now...

The weather has been so nice, I finally got some work done outside this weekend. Working on cleaning around the yard and adding to the pile.
