And all of them help you pass gas

Can confirm the first part. Sauce: MGS2.

Do not take advice from random fitness influencers

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Well its more complicated than that and you should probably not take advice from someone who is already super jacked, but from someone who has studied what is effective for people in a variety of populations. That being said, that quad stretch (even without putting your foot up) can be really helpful for low back pain.

I too would like to hang dead

Hy

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

im always amazed how many people DONT stretch. I get so uncomfortable when I don't

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

hyper mobile people have to be really stiff before any normal stretches touch that itch at all.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If I did a dead hang for 30 seconds, my elbows would come out of joint. Seriously. I used to do chin ups every day, but right around my 70th birthday, instead of lifting my feet off the ground, my elbows pulled apart. And I'm not overweight, just old.

If you cross your eyes and sneeze, your face will stick that way.

6 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

We believed if someone slapped you on the back while you crossed your eyes they would stay that way.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you for the stretches - old man with joint pain

Who is this guy? Can I see more of his videos?

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oooooo big stretch

6 months ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

Anyone else think he was a boom operator from the thumbnail?

6 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah, that might give some short term relief, but it isn’t going to do anything long term.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hate to be a shitter, but if I did exercise number 2, I would massively increase my knee pain and decrease my availability to go to work. Lol

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Seriously. I don't do lunges or similar exercises because it seriously strains my knees.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you sir!

👊

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah they found deadhangs don't do much. The 'decompress' your spine goes away in an half an hour.

6 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah it feels good to me, but does nothing, same as hanging upside, feels nice, does nothing

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So do it every half hour as breaks from desk?

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm an overnight stocker, and this is the kind of exercise I'm in need of. I walk an average of 15-20 miles a night lift boxes ranging from 1- 50lbs all night, and I squat or kneel hundreds of times every night. I'm extremely active, but it's very repetitive motions.

Below

and if they don't help, go effing see a doctor because you are needing more than simple gymnastcs.

6 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Step 1 - be able to afford doctor.

6 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

found the american.

6 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Call me cynical, but what training has this gym bro had to determine whether these moves are properly effective?

6 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Didn't research his background, but his suggestions pretty well match up with what our local trainer does with us in the back training course. And she has a lot of (German) certificates.

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well he's certified as a Personal Trainer and has been running his training program since 2013. Doesn't prove he's good necessarily but generally a shitty PT will be found out faster than this.

6 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Faur enough. There's a lot of random gymfluencers around that really should not be telling you how to do stuff.

6 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Oh I agree, s'why I looked him up and responded. He at least doesn't seem to be a shitter.

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I'm not a Physical Therapist or a fitness / strength coach so please forgive my ignorance. I thought that knees do not have any muscles and it's mainly cartriledge, tendons and bones and those can't be "built up" unlike muscles?

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You already received answers regarding muscles, so I want to add other info from my doc:

Inside the knee, there is no blood supply. So the distribution of nutrients etc. in its squishy bits only happens through the outside movement that moves the liquids around. That's why movement itself, not the strain/weight attached to the movement, is so beneficial for the knee joint. Even using a stationary bike set to zero resistance will help it (swimming is good also) as the movement feeds the tissue.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can strengthen the muscles that surround and support the knee.

6 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

It's true, but you can increase the length of ligaments slightly, and tendons have muscle at the ends & those can 'build'. Not so for bones.

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I need to try that last one for lower back pain

6 months ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 1

There's also the same (yoga) excercise from the lying on your back position - our trainer calls it the "small crocodile".

6 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Scorpion stretch. You can also do similar while laying on your back. Bring your knee to your chest, then with the arm on the same side as your knee, push it all the way to the floor on the opposite side of your body (left knee to right side) roughly the same "height" as your waist.

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh wow ! will have to try !

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was recommended a “deadlift” where you use your lower back (chin down, shoulders forward to kind of “force” to lift with that) and low weight (I use a barbell without plates on). Go down as far as you can about ten times…
Done that 2-3 times a week for the last three years - all my lower back pain disappeared like magic after a month 🪄

6 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

wow thta’s power information will have to try thank you!

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What if you have arthritis in both knees?

6 months ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 3

Swing on the monkey bars

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

DDP Yoga

6 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Or hips? Doesn't matter, arthritis is a medical condition. Doing the wrong exercises can be extremely harmful. Please see an orthopedic doctor or surgeon. Ask my 2 new ceramic and metal hips!!

6 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Can recommend Bouldering - It's a good way to train leg strength if your hands don't hurt too much

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Our trainer always says to do what you can as long as it doesn't hurt. If it does, I'd suggest to find a local trainer/physiotherapist and let them show you some alternative excercise you can do,

6 months ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Then you're fucked like me. Yay!

6 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

It's a big club. All are welcome.

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Do what you're able to do. If it hurts, don't do that.

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A doctor told me that years ago when I hurt my back.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stem cells! Seven years pain-free.

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How much does that cost though? It'll actually rebuild cartilage?

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

. cartilage

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The mobility training I’ve been doing says do what you can with a limited range of motion. *not a doctor*

6 months ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

don't do a doctor. Got it.

6 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Done. Is that just doctors or other medical professionals? My wife's a nurse and I'd like to continue doing that one.

6 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I, too, choose to do this man's wife.

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I should start doing that before I get old

6 months ago | Likes 101 Dislikes 1

22 isn't that bad, is it?

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

Yup! 41 here and just had a run of physical therapy for knee and back pain. My job is 85% desk work and 15% all day walking around at events or hiking and I need to balance my activities a lot more!

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

As an old person, I assure you, start now!

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

i sprained my knee mildly play soccer. I'm 47. when I was in my 20's it took maybe a week to get back to speed. It took me 4 weeks this time and i'm still stiff

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You are already getting old. You aren't getting younger

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Do it. I'm 45 with a long list of injuries. I realised at 30 I had to keep moving of i wanted to be mobile at 60 and I'm already struggling

6 months ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

Almost 42 with a list of injuries. In my case, weight loss was the biggest help. Not saying for you, of course. On top of that, yoga has been phenomenal!

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yep, found both of those in my 20s. Definitely key. I do lots of yoga and pilates; core work. That's key, so are knees, back and shoulders. I don't need bulging biceps, I need strong fine motor muscles and stabilisers

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

150%. 46 here, struggling to get back to be fit again bc health issues. Fuck that shit. Never stop. Never too late to start. Do it right now, thank yourself later, seriously.

6 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Yup. Never gets easier, so you might as well start this week.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sitting in the same position for long periods of time will do the opposite of the stuff he said

I did my own research and it checks out.

Just getting up to grab a drink or use bathroom and go for a quick 5 min walk to get in 1,000 steps or so will do wonders. Your hip flexors will thank you.

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Huh. I guess I better start wiping then

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Can confirm. Don't ask me how I know.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Too bad work places dgaf since you're always expendable!

6 months ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 1

You can get up every 30 minutes and walk around, no one will fire you

I got yelled at working at a call center because I stood up while on a call. I was still at my desk, and the headphone could easily reach

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not always true

6 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

If I did that at my call center job, I'd be docked pay for the time I was walking around

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Standing desks exist

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It would be nice if work places invested in these

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Flipside, letting us sit down rather then be standing for 8 hours.

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes, retail needs to let people sit more!

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0
