aaaaaargh... poor pasta!

How not to lose weight: 1. Decide to go on a diet. 2. Start reading Imgur food posts. 3. Fuck diet.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, fuck buzzfeed. (tbh I just scrolled down after reading the title to type this.)

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

I'm not really seeing how this is different than what buzzfeed was doing.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have made several of these. They stretched my food budget further and were yummy.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Love how the "effortless" pasta has 22 ingredients and requires you to julienne four different vegetables. Yeah that's zero effort there.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Dammit I just ate, and now I'm hungry again. Curse you OP

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

WHY WOULD YOU BOIL ALL THE INGREDIENTS WITH THE PASTA?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

WHY ARE YOU YELLING?! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One paaaaaaaaaaaaaan!

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Not gonna lie. Those vegan dishes look great

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

step 1: pasta.

10 years ago | Likes 102 Dislikes 1

I'm more than okay with that.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Also when is she gonna add the weed?

"everything with pasta" by The Dumpy Chef

Yum!!!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I lead a tough life hating tomatoes and onions.

10 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 2

I'm so sorry for your loss

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Right there with you.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It's awful. I really really really wish I liked them.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I made ratatouille the other day. Didn't like the texture so I blended it into soup. Looked like diarrhoea, smelled like hot sick...

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But did you eat it?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Before I blended it, yes. After blended I couldn't even bear to look at it. It actually did taste a little of sick...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

+1 for the title. Fuck buzzfeed.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks for posting this again, I had lost it.

I had a friend in college that did one pot. The doctors say he'll never walk again.

I feel like this is for college kids. So much pasta!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is actually exactly what I needed, thanks OP.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Orecchiette piss me off the way they stick together.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That is the sole reason i buy this pasta-the oerrichiette monsters!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I keep trying them, though. Like a dummy.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe try adding a little olive oil to the boiling water before adding the pasta. The oil keeps them from sticking.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Not true that's too help prevent foam up from starch on surface

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Orecchiette don't stick together, they get suctioned to each other harder than a dick in a Dyson.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

what a fantastic way to end up with a shitty tasting, unevenly cooked mess of crap. may as well throw the ingredients in a blender 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 5

then throw that blender into the oven and throw the oven out the damn window 2/2

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Think of it like hamburger helper. You cook parts of it and add more to it.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think you misunderstand. You don't put everything in at once.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Are you sure? I find these very misleading then.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Positive. Though I can see how that can be misleading, but that's just a way to show what all goes in it I guess

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh god you should try my puttanesca sauce, my friend who's a chef says it's even better than his

10 years ago | Likes 114 Dislikes 4

I scrolled through the rest of the post just to look for this! XD

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 4

I get that reference! JAJA!

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 5

I'm spanish too! JAJA!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nice post, but I didn't see a single recipe that actually called for Pot...

10 years ago | Likes 106 Dislikes 3

At first I thought you were stupid. Then I was like "heh heh…"

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's for dessert.

Chicken Alfredo; Chicken Sausage, Kale, and Mushroom One Pot Pasta; Creamy Sausage & Spinach Tortellini; Ramen Noodle & Beef Skillet

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You're right. No meat whatsoever.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Clams with Linguini, Garlic & Tomatoes; One Pot Bacon, Tomato, & Blue Cheese Pasta; One-Pot Spicy Chicken Riggies; One-Pot Enchilada Pasta.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

IT WAS TL;DR OKAY

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I cook for a living and I don't see how one pot meals would turn out well. Pasta water would get super starchy, some ingredients have 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 162 Dislikes 10

Yeah. Like you'd end up with a bunch of boiled onions and garlic in these without even browning them first.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Last time this thing was posted I said you should never add brie to a dish like this for clumping reasons and got downvoted. Good luck.

10 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

In most cases, leaving the starch is intentional. It helps to thicken the sauce.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you cook for a living, it would be trivial, maybe necessary, to at least try one, maybe more, instead of guessing. Report back: yae/nay.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

Yeah. You are probably right. I'm guess I should open my mind...

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yeah I always downvote pasta based 1 pot meals

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

You are missing out then, man. You just gotta add the ingredients at the right time.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And they are usually better as leftovers so the flavors get to meld together more.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Too weirdly starchy

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have no doubts an actual chef can make better food than any of these, but the extra ease is well worth the lower quality for many of us.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I tried this one and it turned out great! http://jamiecooksitup.net/2013/11/magic-one-pot-italian-noodles/

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It depnds, some of them can work..

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I always do pasta separately and add it in the end, while I cook the sauce stuff in one pot. Gotta have a timing system for it tho.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It isn't restaurant quality but it works so well for someone as busy as me. The pasta ends up being a starchy stew and it's hearty.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

the goal of one pot recipes is usually a combination of speed and low cleanup. Replacing the water can deal with the starch.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

They come out some-what well. I've made a few and they all require tweaking. Other problem is it makes enuff food for a small army.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You could freeze the extras, for lazy days.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

tru.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

different cooking times. I think you would have a big gloopy mess with uncooked or mushy veggies on your hands

10 years ago | Likes 104 Dislikes 3

My mom usually made one pot meals because of time and effort, and I actually enjoyed them quite a lot

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's why you have to measure things out carefully for these kinds of dishes. Requires some forethought

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The Spinach Artichoke one has always turned out well for me

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If possible I always cook everything in a single pot/pan because I am lazy and hate doing the dishes. Has been working well so far.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Different cooking times hasn't really been a problem since you can just add the faster ingredients in last.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've tried a few one-pot meals. Did not come out sloppy, gloppy or anything like that. Was quite tasty. I don't know the science behind it.

10 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 1

good to hear....It goes against a lot of traditional methods and techniques.

10 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

I know. I was really skeptical to try it because of the same reasons you said. It just didn't make sense to me.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't think you cook well for a living if you don't understand timing different foods, even if in one pot.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

What I do know is that if you put all of the ingredients in one pot like some of the photos, you will not get a result like the second photo

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I think that was just for visual effect. I see how that could be misunderstood though.

And with pasta ones you can precook the pasta, drain it and re-use the pan for the meat/vegs, then stir the pasta back in.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Always cook pasta last.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ok. I never read any instructions. The photos kinda promote adding everything at once....

10 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 2

I read some of the instructions and they said add all at once. I agree with you.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Ha, was just about to say this. Pasta meals are only two pots normally anyway, not that big of a deal to do it the proper way imho.
