Dude, You’re getting a Dell.
RacinJasonStatham
Whats $1000 to a $50000 debt? Just where the comma lands
bippityboppitybuttsex
I have a Dell XPS 17 I bought in 2011 (16GB with SSDs)... still using it... seriously, I have not found a better laptop.
gospelofmillim
What about the ~$1500 gaming laptop that's waaaaaaaaaay better than a Macbook?
NicholasCageisGOD
Students are you going to use your Financial Aid Pell Grant to get that Mac? @op

stupidfuntime
I’m still using my MacBook Pro from 2010! And I can play old steam games. Min reqs for Civ V. We’re like step siblings

I don’t understand why people buy Macs. I accept that OSX is somehow better at running art programs, so artists may benefit. Most people I
Encounter are browsing the web and writing papers in Word, which is far better on Windows. I just don’t get why people like them.

Every spring? Who buys a new computer EVERY year??
Atotalfuckwit
There are new freshmen every year
EvilKam
The $500 Dell is probably equally powerful.
makkael
and will last longer.
say what you will about brand, but OSX deprecates itself faster than any other OS. Then the software developers follow suit.

My mac has lasted me forever. Very durable
I’ve yet to personally encounter a laptop where the HW failed. All issues I’ve had related to idiot sysadmins running contradictory policies
TheBigRedFunkOG
But not dell. Anything but dell. lol
i used refurbished dells for many businesses, they don't die.
smtxom
They’re all the same. Same crappy motherboards, ram, hard drives. Unless you really spend some $ and get upgraded hardware.
certain brands stick with certain hardware manufacturers. For example, Apple used Toshiba HDs for a long time, and Toshiba drives are poor.
Their annual failure rate is similar to WD and Seagate. But Backblaze has a small sample size vs other vendors, so who knows how they scale.
1)I work in IT and I’ve actually seen almost as much Crucial ssd drives fail as I have spinning drives. They’re great for “durability” but
