Most criminals would agree.

We talking about America? /s

If you want to be a police officer then you should have to go through military police school or something like that. Imo

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I have two uncles that were cops in the Dallas area, and I used to be a CO. I 100% agree. If I could walk around murderers with just pepper

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

Spray, why do they need a gun for a speeding ticket?

5 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 3

Oops I thought it was a taser!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Role of police used to be to take risk off citizens and onto themselves. Now all the risk is on the citizens as if they are at war with us.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

No police officer should carry a firearm.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

Well, you're using the correct meme format, that's for damn sure.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

All citizens should carry guns.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

I mean, 99% of work that police do doesn't require a gun so... yeah, I agree.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

I think they should have guns, just better training/vetting.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

Agree. Should only carry hand grenades and tasers....

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 10

Maybe most people shouldn’t carry guns

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

Seems obvious. Something you'll often hear is police feared for their lives because a suspect might take their gun. Seems like an easy fix.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 8

'Cause the proper way to enforce law is to give a criminal a fair shot to fight back & win. Or just ask them nicely & they'll stop. /s

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

There are other ways to fight back. The Lone Ranger fantasy “good guy with a gun” speaks to a lack of imagination if you ask me.

Take guns away from cops

i mean heavily armed cops wouldnt just murder an unarmed child and then lie about it would they? [checks the news] oh. oh no. no no no no

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

Well goddamn, an actual unpopular opinion. Idk if you'll go far but I wish you luck.

5 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 3

Meh, not really an unpopular opinion on imgur.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

not unpopular with me.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Yet, not popular enough.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Which is a thing already in some countries after all, the UK for example

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

Except UK & many other European countries have a system based on monarchies. 1 of the staples of a monarchy are a forcibly unarmed populace.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I know quite a few people that own guns. Not a single one of them has ever shot a person. Weird, huh?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Most criminals shouldn't have guns either

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 2

Most people shouldn't have guns. 60% of Americans don't have them and of the 40% that do, maybe only a quarter of them should.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

Everyone is a criminal - just haven't been charged. There are some 40,000 laws in the US - virtually guaranteed you (and I) broke one today.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Don't confuse misdemeanors and felonies.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it's not so much the gun, it's the culture and the training - https://www.amazon.com/Rise-Warrior-Cop-Militarization-Americas/dp/1610394577

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

its also the guns

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

I believe removing commonplace sidearms would promote a sea change within institutions of policing.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Unfortunately that's a fantasy. U can't disarm until u can prevent criminal weapons. Same reason we still have nuclear weapons.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Sure you can. Cops are not AT WAR with criminals and are perfectly capable of withdrawing to a safe distance and calling cops who ARE armed.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

frankly, the insistence of cops on immediate and unconditional compliance is 90% of the problem.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

To be transparent about my bias, I don't hunt, I don't use 'em for work. Purely a hobby. They're fun when shot safely. Nothing else like it.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I can't speak to the practical path to reach this goal: there is a lot unsolved. I know that I think this should be the goal.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Just pointing out why things are. We DEFINITELY need to do things better, but we're far off from being a utopian species.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ya, thats going to be a no from me dog...but I can agree to funding a new agency that handles mental health and drug related people calls.

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 9

I read that in a Randy voice.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

This guy gets it...not sure who downvoted you but that was my intention.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

They said most, not all. The overwhelming majority of situations police deal with do not require firearms.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 4

Armed police should be like firemen - only come out when called. No need for a gun when writing a ticket for air fresheners.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

Exactly this. Or, lock the gun in the car and require two people to authorize access to it. Remove the trivial access to lethal force.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

I've considered this but what stops them from always "needing access" to the guns because someone "acted strangely" or "smells like weed"?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

In my mind, a second person would have to sign off, the access would be time limited, and a report would be required. So, accountability.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This isn't realistic. U can't do a routine stop, have a guy pull a weapon, hit pause, walk back to your car, get permission, & then resume.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Suppose they took cover and called for assistance instead of returning fire.
