I prefer the chocolates on valentines. More variety in the kinds of chocolate. Heart shaped chocolate truffles and cookies everywhere. ^_^

Here in South Africa, chocolate prices hike for valentines and come back down to normal prices after, with 'special' chocs at normal prices.

Doesn't Easter come into it somewhat? In Oz there's a bit of Easter choc, but will ramp up very soon. Biggest sales time for choc here.

Right, prices are hiked for Easter as well, so I guess I'll have to wait even longer before bothering to check prices.

As a lot of the US chocolate is farmed in plantations in Africa or South America, I sometimes wonder if it's cheaper in Africa than here.

Dunno. Give me the prices and weights of a few common candy bars and I'll check our stores' prices in a week or two to compare it with.

$0.70 to $1 USD for a 43g Hershey bar. $3-$4 for 151 grams of some ghiradelli.

Ah, we get neither of those here. We do get things like bounty bars, flakes and such, though.
