Now go watch, Gone in 60 Seconds (2000), and ask yourself at 15:03 into the movie, "Does he look like an ass hole?"

I liked him, but I've met a surprising number of people who couldn't tolerate him.

His tenure was far too short

Eccleston isn't my favorite Doctor, but he (rightly) calls the royal family parasites, so he's ok in my book.

My first Doctor. And ask any Whovian, you never forget your first. "Nice to meet you Rose, Now run for your life!" Hooked from then on.

"You would make a good Dalek". That's the point for me. Got some emotion on that episode.

Omg the point where Rose... well you know. I mean a Dalek? How are they going to do that?

My first as well, I was hooked from the moment he gave the speech about feeling the movement of the planet speeding through space.
Still like Tennant most, lmao.

Listen. A good majority of the "Whovians" are Tennant. There's a reason he beat out Baker as best Doctor. But Eccleston? Coming off the "time war" and all? His rage yet empathy? Can't be beat. Think of Tennants first episode. "No second chances". He did the same with the Sontarans and others. That is vengeance not pain.

The thing I admire him most for is that he genuinely reinvented and made Doctor Who both relevant and "hip" again. I genuinely think it's a shame he only got one season, but then Eccleston himself is one hell of an ass, so he's probably to blame for that himself.
I personally think 10th "no second chances" bit comes directly from 9th consecutive "failures", missing the best outcome because of the "enemy". Empathy failed time and again. It definitely made him more ruthless.

Oh no he is 100% to blame. The issues he had with the writers/production staff? Why do you think he didn't do the crossover and they had to invent "the war doctor" (thatttt being said, ep.1 of the revival has Eccleston look in a mirror at rose's and critique his ears)

My favorite. Someone pointed out that the doctors after 9 were manifestations of the stages of grief, and 9's role as manic denial really spoke to me.

So that would make 10 anger and 11 bargaining? Doesn't really hold up for me

you don't think the 10th doctor wasn't angry? Demons Run, and all that.

Also the person who suggested that idea also slotted the War Doctor in there.

Demons run was 11

I was thinking about that spider thing in the sewers where....Donna? had to talk him down maybe....

I'd say every incarnation has moments of anger, but I certainly don't think of it as his defining trait. One of his catch phrases is a mournful "I'm so sorry"
