PxP check ... PxR

Take on g2, discovered check.

Pawn captures pawn on g2 with a check. King moves. Pawn captures rook and promotes.

Simple: just overturn the board in a fit of rage and call your mom

I’m not very good at chess but I think if you take that pawn of his in the upper left, you would also automatically put him in check, wouldn’t you?

Yep. That pawn will promote after the check as well, while also capturing on h1. Huge.

Nice! Maybe I’m not as bad as I thought!

1...cxb2X
(then he'll probably move the king E1)
pawn takes the rook and promotes to queen.

What does "1...cxb2X" mean?

I think they mean "capture on b2, check." But they've got the board upside down in their head. The pawns are up at g2.

Yup, had it upside down. Don't chess before coffee.

Ah, okay, but I don't see why the computer should go with the king to E1, because then he would lose its tower. I'd block the pawn with the tower instead and then it depends on the next moves.

you can't block with the tower because the king is in check ... the only viable moves are king E1, D2 and C2.

Bishop or knight to e2 would also work. But you're still losing that rook.
