We're on to number 9 now, time to get the top of the mandibles done!

Like so. The dark tan plates will be covered by the main hull once we get there.

Stage 10 marks the last bits to go on the ventral surfaces.

Bottom half of the port side airlock tunnel.

And the corresponding starboard piece, this one containing the main access ramp. Seen here closed.

Ventral turret assembly. In the 'real' ship, this entire disk would spin to provide a 360 degree arc of fire. The LEGO version here is solidly attached to the main spine of the ship, locked facing forward. Of course, the turret still has two working point of articulation giving it 180 degrees side to side, and about 80 degrees elevation. That's almost a quarter sphere field of fire, which is neat, but still far less than the near half sphere it's supposed to have.

That's it for today. All the ventral surfaces are finished, aside from parts not yet added, namely the airlocks themselves and the cockpit.
