Day 4 - The Sand Castle, Part 1 of 3
The castle itself was one of my first few builds and is still a work in progress after 6 years. I finished the outer walls right before sandstone was introduced to the game, then promptly re-built them as a result. The lava moat is comprised entirely of source blocks brought up from the diamond level, 16 buckets at a time. Each of the glass squares on the castle floor are also lava source blocks, used as under-lighting.

An automatic draw bridge at each cardinal entrance, each hooked up to an inverted daylight sensor for automatic nighttime safety from hostile mobs
The most important building in the Sand Castle - the Trading Post
An inside view of the trading post with the floors removed. This building contains about 90% of my world's material at any given time. Surprisingly I don't need additional chests because I use the materials about as fast as I mine or craft them.
Pattosaurus20xx
I started tunnelling everywhere underground and made a giant box on a hill with my motto /a/aLiZC
MrWoland
I always tend to make a small but functional underground base and then hoard materials. Had over 2 stack of diamond blocks in one save...
TheThayn
I never had the patience to build something this detailed in. Minecraft, nice work!
