One of the first titles we played on our first PC. Flippy disk and DOS!
Almost unbelievable that they went on creating Doom.

Does anyone know if keen dreams had an actual ending? I think mine bugged out after the potato castle.
williamvanauger

ohDannyBoi
Holy crap! Other people know about this game?!
Elnauriel
My single uncle had this game on his laptop back in the early 90's and let me play when I visited. Could never figure out why he bought it.

Yeah dude! I'm so surprised that so many strangers know this game! Pure happiness! I didn't expect so my upvotes or comments!

That sound makes me feel like a kid. I hear it and suddenly i can smell the basement we had the PC in and hear the clicky clacky keyboard...
GoddamnCaptchas
I loved it. One day I played it for 6 hours straight, went to bed right after... the pogostick noise played through my head all night :D
doyouthinktheysawus
YESSSS! Played this all the time as a kid
GanjaminDanklin
Ah same here, but had forgotten what it was named! Nice^^
FlakkMunky
You can buy the complete pack on steam.
GanjaminDanklin
That i'll do
CleverFandomReference
Favorite thing about my grandparents' house.
Sojourna
With exception of 2 & 3 ('til they were freeware), I played all the PC games. I feel that the games stagnated after Keen 5, (1/2)
Sojourna
with 6 & Keen Dreams being... OK. Read once that a GameBoy for Keen was made, but poorly received. Real shame what became of Commander Keen.
gonzotic
I thought I was the only one who remembered this game! Was just thinking about this and other Apogee hits the other day. Crystal Caves?
bandashee

My only regret is that I have but one upvote to give. As someone who's cultural niche is 90's shareware and simpsons memes... I love you.

I prefer Keen 4 because the music is awesome.
PokingSmot
Keen 1 was so tough, that fucking eyeball monster...
Daishudo
This game is great. So happy they released on steam
CabbageHatch
Keen dreams was my shit as a kid. Absolute favorite!
LadyWidebottom
I love that one too.
WoeToHice
My personal ranking is: Keen 2, Keen 3, Keen 1, Keen 4, Keen 5. I pretend that Keen Dreams and Keen 6 were never made :P

Impostor!! Flippy disk? Pshh....

We also had a floppy drive, but the flippies were ... easier to handle. Let alone the disk storage boxes!

Yes. I spent my entier childhood playing Commander Keen. I was also really stupid and didn't know how to actually progress so I'm pretty..

Been reading Masters of Doom, had no idea what iD did for the PC gaming world, always just thought it was doom, John Carmack is a genius

Developed by ID published by Apogee software. Apogee had many good games published back then. Welcome to the early ages of gaming.
Fistouille
"Flippy disc" actually sounds way cooler than "floppy disc"
CloseupCaptionReaction
In Africa we called them flippies. At least our dad did. Floppy disks = big. Flippy = small.
TheSpanishInquisitor
Loved this game. And to think he's an ancestor of Doomguy (and a descendant of Wolfenstein's protagonist).
WoeToHice
Oh, yeah, Mr. 314?
TheSpanishInquisitor
They're all called "William J. Blazkowicz", although they were known by their nicknames (like "Billy Blaze" on Commander Keen).
WoeToHice
I know, I was just making a Mortimer McMire reference.
TheSpanishInquisitor
Oh, OK. I had no idea.
WoeToHice
Main villain. Keeps making fun of Billy, because Billy scored 314 on IQ test and Mortimer scored 315.
