Hear me out on this one.

Hear me out on this one.

Hear me out.
This may sound rude but i do have some reasoning for this.
Firstly, the economics of them. they take lots of extra money to care for them. my step dad would work for a family with a 24 year old man who had the mental capacity of a 12 month old. he constantly needed special attention, which is why they hired him in the first place. not to mention any treatment they might need, and they produce nothing to society.

Second, The actual fact that they have the capacity of a baby makes for some very un-wanted situations in public. In the middle of my end of the year assembly for school one of the teachers was giving a speech, while one of the challenged kids was off to the side just screaming. his care taker couldn't do anything and struggled to even get him out of the room.

Third, Their place in society. they produce nothing to the greater good. people spend much more money on them to keep them alive while they do next to nothing. At least physically handicapped people can contribute by using what they have, and i've seen people in wheelchairs doing some amazing things, but Mentally challenged people can't handle even simple tasks, and it just doesn't seem right.

I know this makes me seem like an asshole but i needed to vent. i suppose il just let this die out in usersub.

What do you consider a disability? What about someone handicapped?

What's the last thing you did for the greater good?

So you'd prefer we killed them?

Surely the duty of society should be to care for the most vulnerable. Consider reading "Flowers for Algernon" and "The Sound and the Fury".

I agree, but also think they should be put down. We get rid of the weak and breed stronger and more evolved people. Not keep the defects.

I don't think your opinion matters. Even though the burden is great, do you shoulder it?

That's why the Spartans would just throw them off cliffs

Eugenics didn't work out the first time

There is a whole rainbow of mental disabilities out there, and by homogenizing them like this, you discredit a lot of people with real lives

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Completely agree. You're going to get a shit storm for this, friend, but just know you're not alone.

Now this is actually an issue that I've thought about myself, for me the point to be argued is whether their life is one worth living.

Considering how they can barely act on their own accord, many don't have the capacity for higher thought, and are incapable of enjoying life

Maybe we should round them up and just gas them? Throw in the elderly as well ? Maybe orphans, they take a lot of care. No? /1

/2 If you complain about a problem but don't do anything to help the situation you're as useless as you describe those people to be.

I think Hitler had similar thoughts on this.

North Korea too!

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I mean, that doesn't mean all of Hitler's thoughts were bad.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Not at all. I'm sure he had some great ones. But the OP is worried this makes them "rude". I thought some perspective would help.

As a disabled person I don't like you.

der der der...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

This actually crossed a line for many nazis who were told to kill their disabled children, and they told Hitler off. Take that as you will.

Let me be that guy: sauce?

It came up in my last semester's Holocaust and Nazi Germany class. I'm shit at organizing so I'ma go dig the source up from my notes.

But it's keeping your dad employed, so...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

its not even doing that. we were living on their property for a while as tenants, and ended up moving because they were assholes.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

after we moved, they burnt down the trailer/house we built, lived in, and intended to sell

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Your right. Your SD should just not have had a job, babies in general should not be allowed in public, and even people with DS should die.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

You're* even!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In ancient times they killed those people.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Cliff babies need to make a come back

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What do you want to do? Kill them? Lots of civilizations did just that, or gave little assistance and let them die of their own accord. 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

More enlightened civilizations place a higher value on human life, and have respect for the feelings of their loved ones and relatives.

There are tests a woman can do to check a fetus, in the UK many are aborted.
