I was furloughed from my job 10/1 because of COVID. They’re keeping me on insurance at my current rate for 3 months (was around $110) but because I lost my job, it makes sense in this country to charge an exorbitant amount for health coverage from Cobra when you’re unemployed.
This country needs universal health care. No one should be without health care because they can’t work, especially when it’s no fault of their own.

History lesson: Insurance is linked to employment because of FDR's salary freeze back in the 1940s.

I would gladly pay the 500$ in premium, in taxes if it means we all have access to quality healthcare.

Yea I went with private insurance over cobra when I had lost my job. Not as good but $350 and covered what I needed.

I had no idea how expensive Cobra was until I switched to a job that didn't offer insurance.

If you're religious there are certain program's out there that are a lot cheaper: i.e. Medishare for Christians.

Apparently they are called Healthcare sharing programs. There's a few out there.

Idk what their application process is, but I'm sure there might be other programs out there without restrictions. Just gotta look.
