This is a scam. It's only goal is to open the door to legal actions and obtain financial compensations for some african countries from US and Europe. Please also note that there absolutely no mention of the slavery organised by the middle-east/muslim civilization which has lasted for over 13 centuries (vs 400 years), deported 19 million people (vs 12 millions) and is still present in today's world (about 1.7 million people essentially between Saudi Arabia, Koweit and UAE).
Yeah, I’m sorry, but not voting is the same as voting no.
I literally would have voted for a cum filled rag on a piss stained highway truck stop bathroom before voting for trump is a better position than “I didn’t vote because my vote wouldn’t have mattered…”
The no votes are shitty for sure, but what's with all the abstentions?? Those seem almost as concerning. Was all of Europe and most of the commonwealth out for lunch during the vote?
The title was: UN votes to recognise enslavement of Africans as 'gravest crime against humanity'. Some countries didn't like the word 'gravest', apparently.
Whilst voting against slavery seems like an obvious choice, the reason so many countries abstained is because the vote also called for reparations, so pretty much all of Europe opted to abstain instead. Neither voting for, nor against. It's simply the safest political option for them: Not voting against their nation's interests whilst also not voting against slavery reparations... Meanwhile the US & co. opted for "fuck no to reparations entirely" instead.

America can’t even say we are against slavery? Just when I think it can’t get worse…
lonelyrangerofthedreams
Look at all those European ex-colonialists (almost) countries abstained to not feel hypocritical on being the core root of slavery problem

Why TF did Canada abstain!? Looks like it was a Russian/BRIC led initiative, but what are the details here?

More important, men should apologise to women for the thousands of years of disrespect.

Apologies without change is useless. I'd rather they get rid of systemic sexism.

Kinda feel like abstaining is just voting no but without the courage to do so...
