Accurate as a one-time regular frequenter. A lot of glammed up nerds making passionate slightly awkward flailing motions in the half dark (with the occasional hyper-elegant hottie of any gender killing it on the dance floor, but no one is really competing).
Darkwave. I don't like splitting hairs, but EBM and dakrwave have a REALLY different sound. Older EBM: Front 242 - Headhunter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1cRGVaJF7Y Newer EBM: Spetsnaz - That perfect body: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeOTogfoLnM And I'm not even going into harsher versions. But, yeah, She past way is a cool band. Also, check out Twin Tribes - Fantasmas for a similar vibe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZmBBo8R3xE
I'm not sure if I should read this as a negative or a positive comment, but I got to play me some Fantasmas and That perfect body so I enjoyed this either way.
I appreciate the use of modern goth music (She Past Away), but the vibe I get is similar to the scene in the movie "The Hunger" where Bauhaus debuted 'Bela Lugosi's Dead.' Observe (3min of your time):
Exactly. Bauhaus, almost anything of them, would be somewhat better. However, today Bauhaus gets played less, and She past away more. So let's call this a "modern goth club"?
Nothing wrong with that, I’d say. Times change. Sisters of Mercy got me into goth, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t listening to more Twin Tribes and Minuit Machine these days.
People regularly say they want to dive, swim in or go out drowned in a vat of molten chocolate... Which leads me to believe our blood tastes like chocolate to vampires...
The first 4 or 5 episodes are, well, very episodic: There are some little hints about the metaplot, but everything else serves the story of the day. After that it gets more complicated and fucked up with plenty of little twists and turns and a lot of moral and ethical dilemmas. Dushku was in a little over her head with such a challenging character, but she did alright, and there are some real gem performances in the rest of the cast. Definitely give it another try.

Yeah, I believe it sounds like Sisters of Mercy but the visuals remind me of Bauhaus (my original comment was confusing)

I never really got the “vampires bathed in blood” bit, it’s just food for them. Most folks don’t strip down and slather themselves in mac and cheese.
FFKonoko
Some do though. I figure vampires just have a high proportion of decadant weirdos.

ArkoneAxon
That would be PART of why the vampire leaders were so annoyed about these parties. "You're wasting good food, and attracting unwanted attention!"

It's still so good! I also recently rewatched Dollhouse for the first time and was surprised by how much better it was than I remembered.

I need to give dollhouse a try I watched a couple of episodes when I came out but didn't get hooked in

Oh, and I think it helps that it's one of those shows that is better binged than watched weekly over a year.
