The Silver Snipers are a CS GO team in Sweden where the youngest member is 62 and the oldest 81! The team was formed by former NiP(Ninjas in Pyjamas) player Tommy Ingemarsson who is a ten-time CS world champion and now retired to coach other teams. He has been training them with the goal to compete at Dreamhack Winter, the worlds largest LAN party event.

Except helping to show that gaming is not only for the younger crowd, they say playing CS has helped to give them a confidence boost and the serve as a sort of mental gymnastics.

Look at those nicknames, Monica “Teen Slayer” Idenfors and Wanja “Knitting Knight” Godänge!

Sorry for the low-res photo. This is them at Dreamhack Winter last week. Sadly they didn't win any games but they were very satisfied with their visit. They said in an interview that not only did they feel appreciated but also like they were really wanted there. The gaming community has shown them a lot of love. They hope to be able to come back again and that more seniors will be inspired to start gaming.

"Live. Laugh. Love. And kill terrorists." I like the cut of Oivind's jib.

Abbe Drakborg has the most metal sir name ever, the literal translation is Dragons Castle.

There used to be a group called the Old bastards in the HL1 days. You needed to send proof you were on social security to try out.

38 y/o here, I can't wait until my generation retires, SO many LAN parties at the retirement centers!

8 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Same age. Attended first lan at 14. Organized my first at 17. Online gaming is nice, but miss the feel of lans

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They probably did fuck your mum

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

"Knitting knight" best nickname

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

By far the best one!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Still better K/D than most CoD players

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Who cares what their K/D ratio is. They're having fun. That's what counts!

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

I agree, but people care because the goal of this is for them to participate in a major LAN tournament.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

this makes me happy.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Those circle sections around the K/D in #3 make absolutely no sense whatsoever.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What doesn't make sense about it? For every death, that's how many kills they have.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm talking about the yellow part of each circle. You'd think it relates to their K/D, with 1 being a full circle. But it's just random.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

r/unexpectedfactorial

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Waiting for one of them to go: Wait, I remember this map from my old Army days (or such) lol. Epicness and much respect for them!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

When players ask me how old I am, I tell them I have pantyhose older than they are.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

85 hours? They've only been playing 2 weeks? *confused*

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Shows why they didn't win.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This is great! I hope to see some health statistics like home this affects if person has a starting Alzheimers syndrome or what not.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Research shows that people who read lot of books delay Alzheimer, but not sure if it's due to just brain stimulation or memory stretching

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

due to book themselves. Only time will tell I guess.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It very well might help, if stuff like Luminosity that works the brain helps, I don't see why this couldn't.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Drakborg, man that is a surname straight from Game of Thrones!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wanja no scoped me and then fucked my mom.

8 years ago | Likes 253 Dislikes 2

What would be more believable, that one of these folks fucked your mom or that the 12 y/o did?

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Well the 12 year old was pretty convincing

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Fair enough

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Trying my hardest, I’d still lose to them. I’m terrible at games.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

.54 k/d :(

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 5

rip

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

At 100 hours played of her first FPS. It's a good start

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah but did you see her kills? o_O She's like 100+ above everyone else.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

100 kills above her own team, lol

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

BirDie's real last name literally means "Dragon Fortress"

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I didn't understand most of that, but seems great.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I don't know a single one of those acronyms, but I gather it's old men in a gaming tournament.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The only acronyms in the entire post is 'csgo' which is counter-strike - a computer game, LAN for local area network and KD for kills/deaths

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yah, but without those... It becomes rather confusing

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

those "badass" pro gamer team pictures like #2 always look so silly

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"Don't mess with us or we'll fuck you up.......at video games."

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

1v1 me, no items, final destination, fox only

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 762 Dislikes 2

Bitch I AM your grandma

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Blurry?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yup

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

“In my day, we were lucky to have such high resolution, you Pixel pumping buckos!”

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Those k/d ratios aren’t very impressive if we’re being honest here..

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 24

Are these the stats for dreamhack? If yes: please, get at their level. Show us your cs skills against some of the best players worldwide.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

those aren't dreamhack numbers, while yes it's fun to see seniors having fun. A W/L ratio of <20% is abysmal.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It isn't Dreamhack numbers, notice that playtime and win% are different, which wouldn't be true at a tournament. Still, its for fun.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

Professional gamers retire in their late 20's because reflexes start to go to shit by then

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

no k/d over 1 though

8 years ago | Likes 159 Dislikes 7

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but they're probably having more fun though. I'll take that over statistics.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Less than 100 hours played and already doing promo shoots. They're gonna have to do way more practicing if they want to compete at DH Winter

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

8% headshot is also pretty shitty... but I think that's not the point

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 3

honestly, you'd have to be trying really hard to get below 10% headshot. Dunno how they did it :D

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 15

who care about the kda, it's a 159 higher winrate here, I'm happy for them to enjoy it but dreamhack is impossible

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

19%*

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

seriously, gramps. you gotta pump those numbers up. those are rookie numbers.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also only about 100 hours of gametime. Once they get closer to 1000 it might be interesting to see how they do

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I don't understand what could possibly be fun about getting your asses beat repeatedly. More power to 'em tho!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Old people have much slower reflexes. They can improve their reflexes with exercise, but they are never going to be as good as teenagers.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Reflexes are important, but not as much as game sense. With practice they could become pretty good.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's CS:GO. You can hold spots as best as you can, plan as best as you can but if you can't win a gunfight you already lost

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is it bad to say, that was the first thing I noticed?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's no way to compete with young people in twitch games, reaction times get way slower as you get old. Slower games or strategy.

8 years ago | Likes 87 Dislikes 0

World of Tanks is a good one f.e, 10 sec reload, we had a 65 yo on our team, slower training, but good on their tanks after a while

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I ran a clan family of 500 people at one point. Probably 1/4 of them were old retired dudes. Game works well for them.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've never liked twitch games. I've always preferred using my mind to win.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 5

they're not mutually exclusive.

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Not with that attitude

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I...I'll t-try harder senpai!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I hope one of their battle-cries is: "get off my server, damn kids!"

8 years ago | Likes 2520 Dislikes 5

Do they complain about lag even when away from their PC's?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also "I fucked your grandmother" would strike fear in public servers.

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

You punk kids and your pacman video games

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"When I was your age, we didn't have video games! We just had to shoot at each other with real guns!"

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Gotta fight russians again?!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hope for me yet. Cake day, turned 59 today.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Already there buddy... Already there :-)

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I bet the woman spends her lunch breaks deleting any suspicious emails.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The one with the blonde hair. Didn't realise there are two women.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Get off my LAN!

8 years ago | Likes 852 Dislikes 0

Dude ! You are good !

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Perfection. Someone send this to them, cuz that is absolutely fantastic.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

We need a best comment ov the year award. This would be a contender. Bravo.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"This was my LAN before your time."

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I actually saw that as a wifi name once...couldn't stop laughing

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Take your +1 you brilliant ass

8 years ago | Likes 68 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

-old guy from monster house

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"We used to shoot little fucks you like you in Korea, stack you 6 feet high like sandbags"

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Honestly, that was such a great movie.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

A very funny, very sad, very good movie.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It really was, Gran Torino for those trying to remember.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

63 year old gamer here. I’m a pretty good seal clubber on World of Tanks so watch out!

8 years ago | Likes 294 Dislikes 6

Warthunder > WoT

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Way to go!! 45 year old gamer here and will still be running strong at your age ????

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sure you will!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hope, when my ti e has come, senior residents have good gaming infrastructure.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That game is almost as old as you are. Jokes aside you should try war thunder some time. It has much more going for it.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Eh, WT air combat is top notch, but I don’t care for the tank driving aspect so much. They slide far too much, even at low speeds, IMO

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I played with some of the older community on WOT before. Nice folks, for the most part. :)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Test out warthunder sometime!

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I did but my PC had problems handling it but I did a bug upgrade this year so I should try it again

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think we all hope to still be gaming when we retire. That's when you have lots of time to play.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I played a fair share of WoT, prefer ships now though.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Knock 'em dead you old bastard!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I was playing with this old guy who was a master with the artillery tanks, he could predict movement very very well.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah, we have a few of those geezer pro Arty players in RELIC. Funny how most of them tent to be old :p

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What about World of Warships?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That too...and W O Warplanes

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A lot of seniors prefer slower games like WOT.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Its a thinkin’ game

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes it is

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

>says the probable KV-2/O-I tanker... or arty...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I play for free so I haven’t gotten the KV2 or OI yet but yes, I do like arty!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, nothing more entertaining than derping some medium or light who mistimed the reload. That never gets old.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Jingles?

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

nahhh Jingles is younger despite looking older :P

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

same thought here!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

+1

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well he said he was a seal clubber, so clearly not Jingles ????

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Jingles seal clubs a lot though :p

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've seen him play, he's pretty bad

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He's not the worst player to watch as a brand new player, but yeah. As a super unicum, I'd watch him for entertainment at most :p
