Hail Hydra

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

As a Dota 2 fan and player, I am very confused.

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

Doublelift seems so done with Conor's nonsense. Also, the level of Krepo sass is quite high

12 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

he's just like "seriously connor stop fucking feeding"

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

After having to play with yellowpete for so long i don't blame him.

I have to agree. I met Snoopeh and had a nice convo with him for about 15 mins during a game. They're probably the sweetest people.

Hi there :) How did you come by this post so long after if I may ask?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

everyone is smiling ... and then there is Doublelift ...

12 years ago | Likes 93 Dislikes 2

Yeah he hardly smiles. When I met him it was super awkward because I had a TSM shirt on....

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He seems like he's holding back as mile for the sake of the picture, Dyrus, on the other hand...

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

i was going to mention dyrus, then remembered that is how he smiles.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

To all those people confused, these are all League of Legends players/casters/coaches TL DR: Feeding: dying a lot

12 years ago | Likes 931 Dislikes 8

Thank You! I was going to say, I have no idea who any of these guys are....

12 years ago | Likes 84 Dislikes 1

I thought they wanted their friend to stop eating...

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

ohh! I thought he was just eating too much.

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

TL;DR doesn't really apply to jargon.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

So... the advice is pretty meaningless, then? It's not like it's some secret. "OHH! I need to stop dying! Now I'll be amazing at this game."

12 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Use of the term generally also takes into account players who take undue risks with minimal potential gain, resulting in death.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not dying is still a pretty big step in the right direction.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's kinda like saying "Don't let the other team score" in football or something. It's pretty obvious.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But the problem is more severe in LOL. When you die to an enemy, you make the enemy stronger, and your teammates have a harder time (1/2)

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Many games have relatively small consequences for dying, so it can be easy to treat it cavalierly. "Feeding" calls attention to severity.

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

It's pretty universally accepted that dying less is one goal in any video game.

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

that's an oversimplification. someone with 5 kills and 3 deaths is generally doing better than someone with 0 kills and 0 deaths. (1/2)

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Why is dying called "feeding"? And what are "coaches"?

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Feeding technically means to die on purpose, carelessly to grief your own team by making the opposite team stronger.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"feeding is dying in a manner that benefits the enemy team. im not a world class player but just know it is bad

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Kills give you gold and experience, so dying to enemy players 'feeds' them this. Once fed it makes the game harder for the enemy team.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Not just players, world-class players

12 years ago | Likes 95 Dislikes 3

I meant to say "professional players, professional casters" etc but the 140 characters is rather limiting ^_^

12 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

"world-class"? Is this a joke?

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 15

These people are paid more than MLS players. The world championship had more viewers than the population of my country.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No, there's a few casters/coaches in there, but those players make a living playing the game in the NA circuit, several have been to worlds.

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

3 of these players have been to worlds and placed 9-10th(dexter) and 11-12th(Dyrus and wildturtle)

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

A lot of the rest were at worlds in S2 but that's too long ago to really say anything about the players now.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I think "pros" is what you're looking for

12 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 1

Eeeeh, considering that these are the players who are all high enough skill level to even have a chance at going to worlds, I say world. IMO

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do they get paid then?

12 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

In one way or the other. Either by advertisements from streaming or by sponsors.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yup, they are all salaried by riot, on top of whatever prize money they win.

12 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

And on top of sponsorships, YouTube monetising, twitch streams...

12 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

2013 world championships prize pool: http://imgur.com/A2sxz8R - and that is just one tournament, there are multiple tournaments every year.

12 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

only 3 people here were actually at worlds. Dexter, Wildturtle and Dyrus, and they placed 9th and 11th.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes. And most stream on twitch which makes them even more $. They make a living from sponsors/twitch/pro matches etc

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

They do

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I want to nerd out about you getting everyone's picture, but I know nobody would understand, so instead I'm just going to go back to my tea.

12 years ago | Likes 218 Dislikes 6

I'd understand, it's fucking amazing how many of them they got.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What a reasonable reaction. YOU DON'T BELONG IN THE INTERNET!!!

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I always nerd out over Scarra. I dont know why but I feel that he's one of the best things to ever happen to gaming.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

as someone whos met Scarra... sadly no.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dude, there are some of us here. I sat and went HNNNGG at every picture. I hate OP slightly.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I understand you

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I got to play beer pong with scarra and kiwikid...I live on austin and a friend of mine helped set up the LSC.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Noooooooo. NERD OUT. That's how I felt when I met TSM,CLG and everyone else. ITS OKAY!!!!!

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I dont play league, I mean I used to, but its so goddamn laggy on my comp. I have no clue who they are, but I would fuck about 30% of them.

12 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

The things I would do in order to meet half these kids. Watching them do what they do is amazing.

12 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

If you're on the east or west coast going to PAX is your best bet. I met all of EG and Regi at PAX East. Also, Curse 2 years ago

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Trust me, it's amazing! Being there in he audience is a different feel than watching it on stream. :) if you have the chance, go. :D

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel like I WANT to but at the same time I know I'd fangirl hard and be like, "OMG I LOVE YOU" and then blush and walk away and die inside

12 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

That's basically what I did when I saw Krepo at PAX. I had a lot that I wanted to say but was too starstruck to mention anything intelligent

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can only hope that I get to go to a tournament some day, meet all the pros and such. Even if it's just to watch SKT1 run over OMG again.

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

You should try and make it sometime! They're a lot of fun. I've been to my fair share of tournaments but haven't seen too many pros.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I want to make it a trip that me and the SO take, she's a gamer as well and I can guarantee she would totally be down on going to watch one.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Once you see how fangirl the Korean girls get over the OGN players I'm sure you could accept a little gushing over them

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm going to need an explanation...

12 years ago | Likes 132 Dislikes 17

Feeding = Pushing too hard and letting the opposition kill you easily, helping them level up quickly and gain the advantage over your team.

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Conor often traveled to Africa, where he managed to overfeed the children and cause the opposite of a hunger. Everyone is asking him to stop

12 years ago | Likes 139 Dislikes 3

the one thing stopping me from believing this is the douschy sunglasses conor is wearing

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

its a game, feeding is bad, the people holding the signs are iconic proplayers

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

In League of Legends, "feeding" means dying repeatedly for no benefit, "feeding" the enemy team kills and gold.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

would you know someone on the enemy team and agree to do this for them cause your mates or something?

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the way League does it's matchmaking, it's possible but unlikely to know one of your opponents.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When someone is feeding in moba games that means he often dies to the enemy heroes without achieving anything in return.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Conor is such a person when it comes to league of legends, so his friends somehow got the people form the LOL gaming scene to tell him this

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's make you think how much Conor must suck for his friends to go to such a length

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Conor's getting fat and his friends are worried about him.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

that was also what I took from this post

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Feeding" or "To feed" is a term used when someone dies to an enemy player, granting the enemy player gold. It's usually a bad thing to do.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The people pictured are either Professional players or work at Riot, the company that makes League of Legends.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is there ever a reason to die on purpose? or does it just happen cause people suck?

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In one of the modes 'All Random All Mid' (ARAM) you can buy items only after you die. Other than that, I can't think of any good reasons.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a poor decision-making thing. If someone goes in, pushes too hard, gets caught out of position, gets separated, etc. Experience helps.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They asked some League Pro players and Commentators to shame Conor for beeing bad at the game ;D

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Are pro players difficult to come by? that seems like a lot ofeffort

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well after playing at big Events pros and commentators often meet up with fans

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They were probably at the event that is going on right now for league.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

league in Australia is short for rugby league, I was just briefly confused how a rugby league event was relevant :/

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh yea its LoL usually but been playing so long just call it league.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"feeding" is intentionally letting yourself get killed in attempt to assist the enemy team

12 years ago | Likes 75 Dislikes 8

(in league of legends, according to google)

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's not limited to intentional deaths, anytime you die excessively to preventable reasons is more precise an explanation

12 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

are there any benefits to the person to letting themselves die? that seems like a terrible tactic

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No it's not a "tactic" it's careless play.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If it's intentional, it's generally done when two players get in a fight, so one feeds to make their whole team lose the game

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a bold strategy Bovvie, lets see how it plays out...

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

turns out I have been playing computer games wrong my whole life

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It doesn't have to be intentional. You can just suck at the game.

12 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

Well, if someone is blaming you for feeding and it's unintentional, they're just being dicks. The term is meant for intentional deaths...

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Of course they're being dicks. It's the internet. There's different meanings to "feeding", though. Yours and mine and others.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What if these people just say they are dying intentionally to hide the shame of that they just suck?

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

To me, its feeding if you should have known not to do it. Like trying to take on a team 1v5.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I get it. But I think in general MOBA communities tend to be extra harsh on new players. e.g.your statement assumes the player has knowledge

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not really. Feeding can just be dying a lot. Any time you feed the enemy team kills, intentional or not, that's feeding.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Technically correct (the best kind of correct) but my point was more about how to treat fellow gamers and whatnot (see above)

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If all you do is blame a person for feeding when they're clearly trying their best, you're a dick. Regardless of the accuracy of the term

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

damn, I "feed" in a lot of games

12 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I feed in real life, oh wait...

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

who's the enemy? Yourself? deep man, deep

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's why I don't play MOBAs

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This is why I play MOBAs, so much fun looking at people rage

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

These people are professional players in League of Legends and the person on the pic seems to be this friend. Feeding means dying a lot.

12 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 2

Specifically, dying to other players, gaining them gold.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I didnt even know you could be a professional LoL player, do they like get paid for this?

12 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

look up TI4 it is the biggest E-Sport tournament right now $6m+ prize pool

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A lot http://www.lolearnings.com/

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, Riot pays the top 8 teams from each region a living wage, and they can get sponsors and prize pools in addition to that.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In the US, it's considered a professional sport. Last year the LoL Championship recieved more views worldwide than the US Superbowl. So yes.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And by professional sport, I mean you can put it on an application for a Visa as a "professional athlete"

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Uhm they actually play in arenas and stuff... The world champs 2013 won 5 Million $ if I recall correctly.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How is this all so unknown to the general public? I guess they don't have a need to market it but I wonder how much bigger it could get?

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

...it's not? This is all really common knowledge in the gaming community. Their earnings are even public on lolearnings.com.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because the most people think videogames are very simple and there is nothing behind it. I guess it will get a lot bigger. I mean its free.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Last year the LoL Championship got more views (worldwide) than the US Superbowl. It's pretty huge.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, the LoL organisation is trying really hard for LoL to become an "esport", so they have an organised set of series that runs yearly (1)

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They provide a modest income for each player themselves, but most teams have sponsors and some players make money through streaming

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd say they already succeeded at making it an e-sport. Final rounds of the spring split brought in more than half a million viewers.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you win, yes. Last year the South Korea team won like 1 million dollars or something crazy like that.

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

They get paid salary too. Not just winnings.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

excuse me while go teach myself how to computer game

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Trust me haha, a lot of them stream their game play as well and you can sub to them for $4.99. If you get 50 subs that's roughly $250 a day.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0
