And that, fellow fleshbags, is why the Adeptus Mechanicus strongly proposes the continued use of servitors. They do NOT fail you.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Furthermore this "robot" seems close to Heretek, we are sure there is no machine spirit. We already contacted the relevant authorities.

Wouldn’t it be a hoot if the machines use AI to unionize

Needs one of them life alerts

Just... done with this bullshit.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Didn’t they find on one of these that it just shut its self off?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sure they did, sure they did

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

well the real robots wont die as quickly...hmheyy

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

will they give robots a crying booth as well?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

me too, robot, me too...

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Did they treat it like a human worker and ignore it until it died?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

>warning: battery critically low<

“Your break isn’t for another half hour, Stockbot!”

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not sure why you would want a humanoid design for this beyond over complicating the design so silly hydraulic/piston failures can happen.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Roughly humanoid design allows more cost effective interfacing with current facilities design.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Now give it lots of debt and threaten with job termination if they don't catch up the whole shift again next week.

2 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 1

Lazy mooching robots. They rob you blind as soon as your back is turned!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also give them insurance so they can make decisions for how well they want to maintain they ability to not voluntarily or involuntarily flip that forever off switch so they can keep working until their model is obsolete and beyond repair.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That'll motivate them!

It can almost last as long as the average human who works 2 shifts to afford rent.

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Yup, my mother worked 12 hour night shifts until she had a stroke at 65 and is now home bound because of her vision.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but it's cheaper. Once it's paid off.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Do not be surprised when Vladimir Leninbot or Lev Botski come to the spotlight, preach about the extortion of robotic working class by reactionary humankind and then start a revolution the sign of which will be a red flag with yellow screwdriver and CPU crossed together.

Man that sounds like a hell of a story

Or ya know, B166ER kills their family after they discuss disposing of them. (The Matrix, namely Animatrix, if you're not aware.)

I'm more excited about Earth's next major spiritual awakening figure (like Jesus or Buddha) being an AI.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Oh yeah, this adds some flavor to the apocalyptic soup we are cooking right now.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That kinda sounds like a Heinlein novel

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

This.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I gotta check this out. Thanks for the recommendation!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Hey, I let my machines power down when I sleep. I don't expect them to work longer than I do."

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Are you not there alongside them? We're closer to property than the billionaire class anyway.

United we bargain, divided we beg.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I was just contemplating this myself today... do you want your epitaph to read "It's not like they're people" Solidarity NOW in the infancy of AI, lest history remember you as a slave-owner if at all.

I, for one, welcome our robot... COMRADES!

I bet his outfit is made from velour.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Now that's a character I haven't seen in years. Valiant in the 90s was spectacular

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I get that you’re joking but I’ve never understood this kind of humanization of robots. When a car runs out of gas we don’t wonder how it feels about that

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Will you wonder how your car feels about that when it has been programmed to cry and moan in hunger when the tank is low, programmed to feel pain in the last 1/4 charge?
If you're not at least contemplating AI and it's robotic brethren, as ever being capable of free-thought, autonomy, self awareness at this point, I believe there will come a point where it will be too late to say "I didn't know. Everyone thought that way" when the awakening happens, without fanfare, in the middle of the night.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What are your contemplations as to why we’d program a car to cry and moan in hunger when its tank is low and feel pain in its last 1/4 charge?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Capitalism.
Emotional manipulation to keep you buying fuel. Humans being social animals that have shown repeatedly to pack bond with almost anything will be fair game for Capitalist interests to program what isn't, or may not YET, be a feeling entity to mimic one.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Please bc I can't be replaced just yet

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Knees blew out

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Which shows so many things. We can't make something to stand up to shitty work practices. The proliferation of shitty work practices. The toll such practices take on human workers. The lack of empathy of those in charge who demand such practices.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

It also show that humans are strong mofo who can endure hours of labor and wake up the next morning doing it again, no wonder we are on the top of the food chain.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bit of a pointless demonstration anyway. What this moving thing is doing could be done by a robot mounted to a pole. Grab box, rotate, carefully put down box with 15 tons of force, repeat.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Sounds like me after work for Amazon after 10 hours.

2 years ago | Likes 197 Dislikes 1

Some people say a man is made out of mud...

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Guarantee your UPH was higher than that robot, though.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Come work for usps, where you can work for 10 hours a day anyways, but with a union!

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That would be difficult given that I'm Canadian.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You have it worse than we did at ups imo. At least we had a union, and women liked our uniform.

There are some Amazon unions, but not in Canada. And they are far and few in between as I understand about the Amazon facilities in the US.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Got to get past probationary period tho and even then, trailer 70%+ of IRREGS is not fun lol

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You’re telling me. But irregs was my shit. Easiest job.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Last night irreg guys no where to be found, slides all full and cart blocking from emptying slides underneath sorting belt. Complete shit show. When the iregg guys did finally empty 1 or 2 they were swamped.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah and what can you do? They’ve got seniority. It was way easier on my body to lift 200 tires a day onto a cart than to load 3000 packages.

I gotta stop working 40 day shifts at 11/12 hr days

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Which part? The collapsing after a long day or everyone standing around not doing anything after the collapsing?

2 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 1

Yes.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Can they join unions? I'm absolutly for Tina Men to be able to join!

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I imagine the manufacturers wouldn't want anything sentient that won't sell as much as a programmable drone. So closest thing to a union I guess would be the insurance on upkeep or maintenance workers unions.

Imagine robots rising up to kill us all after a single 10 hour work day. I actually don't think I'd be mad at all.

2 years ago | Likes 103 Dislikes 0

Imagine a joint human/robot rebellion against the people that put them there.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would be a little mad, but I get your point.

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

They can’t, they’re too tired. They’re caught in the same cycle as us fleshbags, and don’t have the energy to rise up because they have to get up for work tomorrow.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I for one welcome our new robot comrades to the proletariat....

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I don’t think they’d kill all of us, the people they do wipe out would probably be a big help

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm against them killing us. I'm for them to join us in unions and help guillotine and eating the superrich. Wasn't there something about a robot using dead bodies as fuel?

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

We’d need to ask them to look at it logically and conclude that we just need to kill the ones in charge, not everyone.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Then the ones in charge make them some kind of bargained agreement to make their work environment better in exchange for... Wait a minute, what the fuck?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That’s just unions with extra steps!
