Does anyone know about neuro-monitoring and potential adverse affects? She had a probe in that foot ? and now has intense pins and needles and stabbing pain. Everything else healing up. #neuromonitoring #intraoperative_neuromonitoring #brain_tumor. You guys are so amazing!!! We understood why they were doing it, she’s home now and has significant pain in her foot! A million internet points to all you commenters!!

Possible, though unlikely, the tumor was blocking a pain signal that was always there

Don't worry about it, her brain is in her head. Total opposite side

they removed the part of your brain that controls the foot

Not again.

Tell the doctor.

does it feel like this?

@OP disregard my other comments. I've had SSEP and EMGs done, neither should cause excruciating pain. Call on call Dr. Immediately & report

I don't know from nothing, but congratulations on the successful brain tumor removal, and best wishes on a full recovery.

Maybe ask a doctor and not imgur?

I love you all for taking care of us. See doc 12/3 meantime substance abusing nurse practitioner who is vile & useless

Maybe they hit a nerve? I cut my hand a couple months ago still can't really feel my thumb. When something hits it its like fire.

Part of my chin is still messed up from wisdom tooth removal. Got partial sensation back but if I press it I fell all sensations at once.

Ask her surgeon?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can’t get past substance abusing NP. THC did the trick!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In Europe we only get a centemeter pain due to the more logical metric system.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Hahahaha… so wish we were there!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Shouldn't you be asking your doctor instead of social media?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

The nurse practitioner comes across as substance abusing. Tried to ask and she went on a shame and patronizing bit. Asked to be changed but?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sounds like a shitty nurse. I'd get a second opinion tbh

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dermotomes & neuropathy. It’s crazy how connected nerve endings everywhere come back to neck, spine, and brain

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sounds like ghosts in the blood... I prescribe cocain!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You never know what your brain is capable of. I have fibromyalgia, means my brain tells my body it's in pain for no damn reason.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Imgur may not be the best source for medical advice.

I have a chronic infection that ebbs and flows and when it's worse my feet hurt so badly getting out of bed in the morning.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When they removed my tumor my left hand would always do what my right hand would do. It took a lot of work to control then independently.

I decided to pick up guitar. In still suck at guitar.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Glad u r still alive and u get to live the rest of your life as someone who very smart people nerf out over

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Probably a question for a neurologist. The like the one doing your follow up exams. Not Imgur

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

See him 12/3, meantime substance abusing nurse practitioner who is vile as hell. Will be sharing that with the doctor

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sometimes you need to ask intelligent questions to get serious responses from doctors. & NP is substance abusing, so barrier to doc.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have you tried cocaine?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

stone cold sober for 38 years, micro dose of THC does the trick!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Be glad you're able to talk and type I guess

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

THC did the trick

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Might have had the probe poke into a nerve and cause neuropraxia or hematoma; or, pressure injury to nerve if it was a long surgery.

An EMG is the next step to evaluate if it has been 4 weeks and it is still present.

Neurosurgery nurse here. Those needles that were in your foot (and throughout your body) are part of neuromonitoring referred to as

Thank you so much, they did a great job explaining what they were for, just no mention of weeks of debilitating pain after.

Somatosenory evoked potentials (SSEP) or EMGs. We can stimulate through those needles to ensure motor and sensory signals stay the same or

4 years ago | Likes 297 Dislikes 2

Improve with surgical intervention. As we get closer to elegant brain like the motor strip we can see if the signal dampens which we may

4 years ago | Likes 279 Dislikes 1

Have to push if the tumor is close to that area. It sucks that we have to place so many needles but you need those deeper signals that

4 years ago | Likes 272 Dislikes 1

Topical stickers can’t read or stimulate as well through. We have electrode grids that we lay on the cortex of the brain to help us read

4 years ago | Likes 284 Dislikes 1

I studied medicine and you're making my head spin a little

4 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Electrical activity and errant spread which would tell us if the patient is having a seizure. So anyway the pain is good. It means your

Don't ask the internet for health advice. go to a doctor.

4 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 6

Called the doctor, nurse practitioner mocked and shamed my daughter about it. I did tell her she’s been the nastiest human, but we r stuck.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Change your doctor.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Go to a hospital. Get different insurance. Idk how America works I'm sorry

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

lol I live in Merica… drug addicted Nurse Practitioner is a barrier to doc who we will see tomorrow.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"is a barrier to a doctor we're seeing tomorrow". Not that much of a barrier then is it. If you aren't happy change your doctor or complain

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

about the nurse. It's not hard. You're adults. Why are you paying for a service you don't like? Are you all that daft?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We live in Nevada. Schools are so bad here doctors won’t come. No private schools. We would have traveled to california, but COVID was ragin

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's only one doctor for the whole of nevada? Bull.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Probably an American.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 6

American. Get this. Her dad died 30 days before her surgery, increasing her SS check by $400 a month. She will be booted off insurance.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's fine but wrong advice could kill someone.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

I think it's more asking for things to ask the doctor about. Many docs have limited solutions and need prompted

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Don't prompt your fucking doctor. Jesus christ. Tell them your symptoms. This is why you pay them. Reading stuff online and diagnosing your

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

own conditions is something medical professionals hate. Their job is diagnosis. Let them do it.
