the worst part is the "I should a don this years ago" Don't let that regret get you, just enjoy not carrying all that extra weight, go do stuff that was too uncomfy before :D
I'm going on ozempic (well, Wagewy or whatever it's called) next week. The GLP-1 drugs are rapidly dropping in price, and will soon be affordable for all. They're also soon available to all in pill form, rather than through a needle.
All of the side-effects are basically the same as "If person stopped losing weight rapidly anyway", so like, slight tiredness, entering ketosis etc. Very, very doable.
Here's my take: In Q1 2026, if you can't afford the drug and your BMI is >30, then just wait 1/x
2/x until the price comes down, because it is coming down. Currently about ~$150-250 a month (!!), more if you have a high BMI (>30).
The reason why you should wait is because only ~4-5% of all people who have been overweight for at least 3-5 years, make it. That's the bitter truth I've learned from being >30 BMI for 8+ years now. 95% or so just can't lose the weight and keep it off.
The reason why can be found if you do research, but TL;DR: Your body is used to a high calorie intake after
3/x being used to it. The longer you've been fat, the harder it's going to be to get your body used to a lower calorie intake (healthy levels). It's that simple.
So, my strategy for my GLP-1 meds is to experiment with going cold turkey after I've lost weight. But I've made it clear to my doctor that if the weight starts coming back, I expect more prescriptions (low dosages), and she agreed.
This is because your body might need years to get used to a healthy level of calorie intake. (The end)
(Secret 4/4. We all have various ability to conjure up effort. If you're currently on a weigh loss journey with the advent of GLP-1 drugs becoming ubiquitous, that effort might be wasted trying to achieve what realistically only 4-5% of people can achieve.
I've been able to put in tons of effort over the course of a year, where I lost all my weight. But, of course I yoyo'ed back to my original weight, and then some. People underestimate the fact that it takes years *after* the weight loss.)
Welp, I've been going in the opposite direction: 220 -> 235 ish. If I can figure out how to sleep without booze, that will be a big boon fore me. Good for you!

Speaking from someone gone from 385 to 345 in 11 months, this is not a race, it's a marathon, keep the pace!

My high was around 310 to 315. I was around 280 for several years and now down to 260 before the holidays and kept it off now to get to 240.

I did this naked once... I forgot about the reflection.

Dude, that's fantastic! I was stuck at 200 (from 315) for a while and I recently got back to 195.
Hell of a journey, huh?
Great job bud!
Hashbrown123
I'm stuck around 200 now. I think it is because I am also putting on muscle so the rate of fat loss to new muscles balances out.
Teratoid
200 was a psychological wall for me.

Slow and steady.

Wow, that's a strong stance, but I guess we should all go along with it and grab our guns
