A few facts to note:

The trucks will get 12mpg, less than a OG Hummer.

Supplier is a defense contractor called Oshkosh Corp

Postmaster is a Trump era appointee.

Though not directly appointed by the president, the postmaster serves at the mercy of a board that itself is appointed by the president, so Biden could replace the board members but he would need congress to approve his replacements.

Meanwhile the Postmaster is locking in his gift to the oil industry and the defense contractor.

My ambulance makes about 6mi/gal

Wtaf

Oshkosh is a major military contractor. They won the contract because they greased the right palms.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fuck Luis dejoy why has Biden not removed him yet

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wasn't this also planned to be with a union labor and then they just lied about that and changed the plan?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Another reason the midterms are so important. Make sure every Dem you know goes to vote.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

libs are gonna be so owned when the earth is uninhabitable. lmao

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

THAT is what is prompting his resignation? What about all the other shit he's pulled?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fuck Luis De Joy, or how ever your spell that dumb fuckers name

3 years ago | Likes 119 Dislikes 3

It's right fucking there you tool

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 19

It's spelled F-A-T-C-U-N-T.

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Makes zero sense to buy gas-powered when all they really need is basically a large golf cart in most cases.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know he cannot just fire him…but seriously figure it out. Do it Republican and Trump style where you don’t care about norms and rules.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He's already said he's not going without being dragged out.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wait, they haven't replaced dejoy yet? Jfc dude, it's been 2 years!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dejoy has a conflict of interest as he is involved with heavy investments for USPS competitors

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oshkosh needs to stay in their damn lane and just keep making children's overalls

3 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

agreed, b'gosh.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That’s the genuine article

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He wont resign because he doesn't HAVE to.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Likely embezzling the difference in federal funds

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Right out of the ol' GOP/Russian playbook.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

After all the shenanigans with the sorting machines before the 2020 election, how the FUCK is DeJoy still there?!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dejoy probably has stock in Oshkosh

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I wonder if Biden can sue the contractor or revoke any security clearances they have thus disqualify8ng them as a govt. Contractor.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

The world is honestly fucked.

3 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 5

You're honestly a bitch if you think you can cry and decades of methodology will change overnight. Shut up and keep fighting the good fight

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 19

WE CANNOT BEAT THE GREED OF HUMANS. Never have throughout history… never will.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We did okay for a while after The New Deal passed. It took a lot of protesting in the streets though.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Repower the existing trucks. They're a big square box anyway so it shouldn't be hard to integrate batteries etc. Use parts from the

They are literally so bad. It makes me cry that money is so much more important than the planet for our children

3 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 5

Who. Who is bad. The postal service?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 19

Louis Dejoy and pals.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Friendly reminder that will get downvoted: the USPS largely exists outside of any executive branch control. They are not subject to EOs,

3 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

You only got 1 downvote that I see.

directives, or similar policies. An explicit act of Congress would be required to compel policy changes.

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

My cousin died in one of their old vehicles from the 80s... They couldn't care less about human life.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Was your cousin a postal worker or is this a deeper story?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Postal worker

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

DeJoy is the same guy who arranged automatic sorting machines to be tossed out instead of actually being used to move the mail to people

3 years ago | Likes 478 Dislikes 2

Claims it was more efficient ordered them permanently dismantled. Pattern of abuse matches repub election disputes

3 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

Actually, that predated him taking office by one month... and was ordered by Trump appointees.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Likely in a bid to keep his master in power.

3 years ago | Likes 99 Dislikes 0

How was his name not at the top of the "to be replaced January 7th" list?

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Because he reports to a board of directors who are appointed for fixed terms. Biden had to wait. Doesn’t explain why he’s still there though

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Hes a piece of shit that should be considered a terrorist for actively trying to fuck with the democratic process.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Right before the election, and Christmas, when people would be sending post cards in higher numbers

3 years ago | Likes 69 Dislikes 1

Don’t worry, he’ll get to stick his thumb in another national election or two

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

"but they were old machines" *mail grinds to a halt just a couple months before the largest mail in election in history.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In America, there is no consequence for that. It’s a broken failed state, meaningless laws, incapable unwilling underfunded institutions

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Remember when he had blue mailboxes removed all over so we couldn’t turn in our votes in the middle of the pandemic?

3 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

DeJoy should have been removed a LONG time ago

3 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

As a Wisconsinite, Oshkosh is not setup to build the small vehicles. WTH are they building?

3 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

Oshkosh isn’t exclusively defense. The McNeilus (MN) plant is refuse collection fleets and concrete mixers.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

They make the bib overalls for the trucks

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Grumman, who built the current LLV, wasn't set up for producing them either.

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I thought they weren’t building them IN Oshkosh, but a different Oshkosh plant in another state. SC maybe…?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

^^This. They decided to go to a non-union opetation in SC

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

As I understand it from back when I was day trading them, the plan is to rely on Ford for a ton of it.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It really is dumb, Ford makes a great city delivery truck, the transit connect which had an electric version 10+ years ago, but instead they

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Are paying Oshkosh to contract a new, worse, vehicle from Ford in small numbers which mean development costs will be high per unit.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

and its all deliberate, they just want to stick it to the democrats even if it hurts everyone.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

They aren't doing this to stick it to the democrats, they are years away from production, they are kneecapping the USPS so they can "prove"

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It doesn't matter. it's government money, which is infinite.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Is there a reason why this man is still employed? Can Biden not axe him? Or at the least fire him?

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

He cannot. President can only nominate. Board of Trustees actually oversees him and could fire him.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

He cannot. He’s working on it but, of course, the appointments needed to fire the fucker are being stonewalled.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Always remember: The Executive Branch in the USA is the weakest branch of government by design.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

By whom? Manchin and Sinema?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The current Grumman LLV was also made by a defense contractor, gets worse mileage, and doesn't have A/C. However, they could have gotten

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

A much better vehicle by going electric. The short range and stop and go nature of mail delivery is perfect for electric vehicles, it's why

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Electric delivery trucks held on for so long a hundred years ago.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

In the UK, we had electric milk floats, my area only lost them in 2017!

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Imo, the Ford transit based or VT Hackney would have been better options. Both are proven platforms from commercial small truck makers

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And both can be had as electric. Why they went with a company that makes much bigger vehicles doesn't make sense, like the last delivery

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Vehicle being made by Grumman even though a ranger or S10 based one would have been better.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Biden can’t replace members unless the retire or resign. The problem is there’s one democrat that’s in DeJoys pocket

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

He can fire them "with cause"

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

My understanding is that only the board can do that. Biden has been wanting to get rid of him since he got in office, asked him to resign

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean president can fire board members "for cause"

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Now if Garland would do his job and charge him with campaign finance violations he could get someone else. Unfortunately Garland is spineles
