So, somehow my post about eating my birthday meal alone went viral here on imgur and an amazingly kind gentleman reached out to me and offered to pay for my meal. I want to express my gratitude not only to him but to this entire community.

Gee, imgur sure does like buying people food. Anyone want to get me and my husband a fancy dinner? No? No takers? Ah well.

Was this some sort of scam ? Or legit

Happy birthday !

I’d immediately think this was a scam and give them a fake account.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

World needs more people like that!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I haven't heard anyone ask to be paid through anything else than bank transfer or PayPal or monzo. We behind.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Venmo is probably the most used app where I'm from, then Zelle (used to be Chase QuickPay)

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m honestly crying.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Same thing I did man

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Internet people are seriously charitable. It's good to see.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why wouldn't he get the tip?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This was real and not a scam?? That's rare.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

So... My birthday was two months ago and I have student loan debts.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We want to see the meal...I guess I can check your profile, meh

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Nice, OP! And happy bday!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Zelle, cash app and Venmo... today I learn of their existence.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That's awesome, glad to hear it! I know how that goes, last year I spent my 30th AND my anniversary alone in a hotel bar due to work. BLAH!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

happy Birthday!!!!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was worried it would turn out some kind of scam

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Happy you've eaten @OP! What a great thing for that person to do I love it

6 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

First letter of the messager looks like a p so probably not

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Anyone on Imgur want to pay for my flight training? $120 000. Cash or bank transfer is fine. Seriously though, happy birthday @OP.

6 years ago | Likes 98 Dislikes 10

If you accept payment in thoughts/prayers you should ask Facebook.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Couldn't even afford the pixels:

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, but we can split time!!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hell, I'd love to find a few people to do a flyaway with. Boom! Command hours built up in no time.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Anytime you’re in CO let me know! I’ll be your safety pilot

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Goodness knows I could use one. My first real experience with fatigue resulted in an airprox. Lessons were learned that day.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In Europe Ryanair is a good way into the industry- they’ll pay you as a cadet and allow you to build hours on the job. (1/2)

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Got personal reasons for finishing my last 3-6 months but thanks. Still an option for type rating & line training. Wizzair is another option

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ultimately my goal is emergency services, not airlines. Though at the end of the day, give me two wings and a working engine and I'll fly it

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But are you doing this training alone?

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Yep. Me, myself, and...occasionally an instructor who sits and watches like a cat silently judging.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Probably doing the training with 5-6 of his closest religious camp friends from back home.

6 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Hey, that's completely inaccurate! I've only got three close friends!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One of the stans. Nothing to worry about.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

made me LOL and nearly choke on my migas taco. +1!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've always been curious about flying. Does it really cost $120,000 for training, or is that for more than just a personal plane?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Depends where you're doing your training. It's cheap in certain places like the US or South Africa, but not so much in Australia. 1/

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That estimated cost will cover everything from start to commercial license at 200 hours, including multi-engine. It's also for medicals, 2/

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

license exams, documentation and administration, personal equipment, charts and supplements. Send me a message if you want more info. 3/3

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I appreciate you taking the time! I'm in the US, so maybe it will be a little more attainable. I always hear things in AU are crazy pricey.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have never heard about any of these payment methods

6 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 11

Me either. We just do an email money transfer.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm glad I'm not the only one and that it was a positive post as I was assuming it was some sort of scam message.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do you live in Mississippi? My mom lives there and I can't send her money any other way than a mailed, hand-written check.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

CashApp is really nice. No fees, can get a debit card for it, very fast, very accurate.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

You haven’t done any contact work then.

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Contact work? Like... Optometry?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

*Contract my bad

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh lol I actually thought you meant contact as in... Work where you make connections and contacts with people at functions

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most people aren't prostitutes and need contact. Some are contract workers tho!

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 4

Think Zelle is a Chase app. Everyone I know has Venmo or that. Or PayPal

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I am so old school and may be paranoid so I have zero app. Sent me a check. Are those apps really trust worthy?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Zelle works with a large number of banks. I use it to give money to my mother. Takes seconds to go through and it transfers bank to bank

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Everyone I know uses the Cash App

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Think you are right on Zelle. I know Cenmo is by PayPal to make instant transfers a little smoother. They also offer a debit card

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't know a single person who uses apps to pay anything- and I am not that old.. we use cash.. also paypal but only to pay in webshops

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Venmo makes going out with friends and getting people back for shit easy. Or if you’re buying $20-$100 of something from someone

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

$29.22 for a meal? That's expensive to me.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

Depend on the location. In CA, that’s considered fair. Pasta~15, calamari~12-13 plus tax.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Calamari was only 10, pasta was 15, pop was 3 bucks

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pop? Haven’t heard that term in awhile. It was fun to say it. Glad my guestimate was close

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haven’t been to Michigan in a while eh?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Where I live, that is a low price. I'm talking a burger fries and a beer... Not fast food though.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

For fast food, yes. For a half decent, restaurant meal, not really

6 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

da fuck kind of restaurant you're eating at... That's the cost of a meal for 2 people around here.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

30$ for a decent happy birthday meal in a ‘real’ restaurant, it’s pretty cheap in Holland

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you want a nice prime cut of steak and a nice drink/cocktail you're right in the $30 area to start.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ah see theres you problem. Paying for overpriced drinks.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Worth mentioning, I'm talking "nice" restaurant. Not Applebee's or something like that

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Was it Mr. Puckett? Also, happy bday @op! Sorry you couldn’t be with your friends and family!

6 years ago | Likes 320 Dislikes 11

Nope, wasn't me! I go more TheFreePizza route

6 years ago | Likes 172 Dislikes 6

I tried to get some pizza but since I never post I wasn't qualified :(

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hey! Keep up the good work sir. I look forward to your posts every day.

6 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

You've seriously helped me with my depression and anxiety these past few months. Thank you so much. I know I'm one of many so keep it up!!

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Doubt it, there was a decent chance it wouldn’t have been screenshotted and posted, and he definitely likes the attention.

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 36

Okay, just carry on then...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Who is that?

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Someone who likes to do nice things for struggling imgurians.

6 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 2

Right. Saw the dog avatar and thought maybe. Looking at the username now, it’s too long. I’m just glad someone helped out on this guys bday

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1
